EVO vs STi

Even tho the STi comes with more stock hp, i think the Evo still rules because of its unbelieveable steering

But the Wrx has the advantage with its shorter wheel base too. Dont forget that factor.

The Evo isnt faster than the STi to 60, but, it did beat it in a road race (on Car And Driver TV). I REALLY want the Evo. Oh, and thats a very nice pic!

from a technical stand point, i feel that the sti has the better drivetrain layout, better weight distribution, and stronger transmission. the evo has the better suspension type for the rear, so its less effected by body roll, and its engine is a closed deck type, so its block should take more power. the japanese version of the sti vs evo, the evo uses a bunch of electronics to control its handling, while the sti uses the pure existence of the car, using balance as its main weapon. anyways, the fastest sti vs fastest evo, the sti always turned out a slightly quicker lap time, which was the spec c version of the sti. i really dont know which car id get, its hard, but id pic the evo right now. ive gone back and fourth on which car i liked better, so who knows, maybe ill like the sti more within a week.

The test results I seen always come out with the Evo on top. The Evo always wins test runs (search it) and it was even on Car And Driver TV. The cars are pretty close, but the Evo's turbo is a little bigger which is why its slower to 60 (turbo lag). But I would go with the Evo, cause I've been a fan ever since discovering that car.

Once again I still think that the Sti (whether spec-c or non version) would beat an evo because a shorter wheelbase helps alot in racing! + the sti is lighter.

I dont know about that. It might be true, but the results I've read about, always have a Evo doin a better track time.

well in a big race with all the cars going at it, anyone could win, cause the faster cars are in the back of the grid, and cars are blocking each other, so a slower car can beat out the quicker one, considering there isnt a big margin in power and handling. but in single races, like time attack or whatever, in japan, the sti always lapped slightly quicker. now the past stis might have lost to the evo, but the new sti, with the redesigned chassis and suspension geometry, is slightly quicker stock. again, im talking about the japanese spec sti and evo, not US. the US sti, and evo, will have a different story.

In my person opinion any car that has michael schumacher will WIN!!

last i knew shumacher didnt race EVOs or STis; but i do know that team Mitsubishi supposedly has been working on some top notch stuff for their WRC Evo for the next two years. :grinyes:

i wish these threads would have something important to talk about , i love the evo but how many times does there have to be a comparison in cars.we need threads about aftermarket companies making things for our cars, and what people are doing to there cars, rather then we will win this race,that race or whatever

They're both good cars with very similar performance only slightly different strengths... it comes down to preference between the two, thats it, now STOP IT.

Also the ability to modify these cars is the big issue. The Evo has been more mod friendly thanthe STi has been so it gets more power. From what I've read the computer is the big problem and about 2 months ago the computer code onthe STi was cracked and companies have been scrambling to do remaps for the STi's computer.

I dont know about that it just seems that way because HKS has moded the evo. But there are plenty of companys that make stuff for the st!..

whats the best stock version of the evos that mitsubishi made ie. makinen ver...somting like that i read in a magazine that the best subaru ever made was a 2005 model with 260kw stock that would definitely beat an evohahahaha....im a subaru fan but i do like the evos but the only reason i dont like evos that much is they're just a computer on wheels

Yea the sti has a rare J-spec version with 330 hp then theres the evo with the mr edition I guess!

There was the 330hp Evo 6.5 Tommi Makinen Edition, the 340hp Evo VI Zero Fighter(called Extreme in Europe). The Evo VII beat the TME around the Nurburgring, and the FQ 300 version was even faster. Now the Evo VIII has the revised MR, available in 276, 320, 340, and more recently, 400hp versions.

The computers improve your driving and make you faster. That's all that matters. If it wasn't such a big deal, Subaru wouldn't be doing the same thing. They have had an active DCCD(Driver Controlled Center Differential) for a couple years now, and Subaru has just introduced a yaw sensor that works like Mitsubishi's AYC.

Well everone will always fight on which on is faster.
Well at my school a kid just got a new 05 sti and there anothor kid who has a evo 04 everone at the school wants them to race so bad.I dont beleave this fight between the sti and evo will never end.
