I have 3 questions.

You guys are bad ass at so many things i'm not I was hoping for some direction here!

1. I saw a vin decoded in previsous forums, can anybody decode mine?

2. I am getting from my buddy at a chevy dealership a brand new 4l60e transmission installed for 1500, is this a good deal? I was quoted 1400 for a rebuild, why for 100 not go brand new? Or is the rebuild quote really high?

3. My motor has 110,000 on her, and I was quoted 3,500.00 for a rebuild, is that a good price, for the 96 3.8 231ci? Is there anywhere you guys know that I can get a new 3800 Series 2 for under 3g? And is it easier to turbo or supercharge while installing a motor or after? I was told by a mechanic in the family that you would lose alot of drivabiltiy with the car if you turbo or supercharged it because it messes with the computer. I tend to lean towards whatever he says because he owns his own 50,000 hydro boat with a hemi he built himself and his 04 z06 with all kinds of shit on it. But any help with any of these is super appreciated. I know it costs alot of money so any money saving tips are helpful to, what can a poor college kid really afford these days anyways :) Thanks to anybody for some help, Ryan.

thats a little pricey for the re-build. i have called around and most people quoted my '94 Z28 at $2500. And Super charges are a lot easier to install that turbos

$1000 is about what you would pay for the machine work, and reinstallation of all the parts. the other 1500 is for all the parts.

yeah its not cheap. my brother has $1900 in his 86 trans am and he is doing the rebuilding himself. he did have a professional do the block.

Yeah, that's 2500 for an extra 2 heads ect.... That must be pretty high. Are you satisfied with the rebuild for that cheap? And what about the tranny price?

LiquidSmooth unless you're having problems, the engine's prolly got a lotta life left... mines at almost 153,000 miles and still running strong

i got the real low down on putting an ls1 into a v6 model, and that is about 4000 more than you'd have to spend if you took a v8 model and just redo everything, the motor i have now has 110,000 and it doesn't have ANY kick left in it, and she's starting to burn oil i think... anybody know of some web sites or places i coudl contact that sell the 3800 series 2 new? thnx, ryan.
