3 series idle & control problems

EMC reads control inactive and wont reset since i unhooked battery, also engine idles rough and missing badly.

not much to go on, but, look inside the control unit's compartment [R/R corner of the engine bay] for any water. this is not uncommon and will destroy the Control Unit. Most common cause I've seen is someone "washing" the engine...............jb.
