Starting delay

I bought my '97 about year and a half ago. Since then I put new a/c delco plugs and wires and had the fuel rail replaced, no other problems. Now I'm experiencing a starting problem. Up until now it only took 2 seconds to start, now sometimes I have to turn it over twice to start. What gives!!

well if it starts to get worse every time you go to start your car then it could be your starter or your battery isn't holding enough charge, but if it is the consistant amount of time every time or maybe not everytime, i wouldn't worry about it, mine has had a delayed start for about a year now but just give it a sec or two and it starts right up but sometimes it doesn't hesitate so i think nothing of it. if it gets worse then start to worry.

Some others have attributed this to the fuel system losing it's pressure over time, either though the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel pump at the other end. You could get your fuel system pressure tested fairly cheaply if it worries you.

That's just pure regurgitation on my part by the by. I must've gotten a special magic fpr or something from all the bitching about them around here. As far as I know it's still original. At the very least I've put 86,000 miles on it, and mine fires right up all the time.
