I have a 1997 Grand Am several months ago I had a check engine light on, the mechanic told it was my fuel injectors. I eventually had to have all of them replaced, now I still get a check engine light when the car idles and then it will go off on its own it is giving a code of random misfire and I am also having problems with staring the car. Since the new injectors were put in the car does not start right, sometimes I have to put my foot slightly on the gas & then it will start. The mechanics have no clue what the problem is does anyone out there have any suggestions?

Check to see if all the injector connector plugs are firmly seated in their proper locations. Also check for bad or cracked wiring or connectors. If this does not help then check and replace the spark plug wires especially if they are originals. Regardless of mileage they will deteriorate over time. Random misfires can be caused by the ignition more than they will be caused by an injector. Also make sure the coils are good. Sometimes a misfire is one of the indicators of a coil going bad. You can do all of this yourself and won't need to spend a lot of money. Hope this helps.
