Failed Emissions

I recently bought a 1995 Camry V6 LE and took it to emissions to have it fail with high hydrocarbon. I was at 325.13 ppm and the max was 220ppm. They gave me a list possible problems, spark plugs etc. but I don't have a clue where to start looking for the problem. Any suggestions on a inexpensive way to solve the problem the right way. Any suggestions on what it could be?? I hadn't run the car very long before I took it to emissions, could it be as simple as that??

I have the identical car with the identical problem. I am the second owner of the vehicle. I bought it from my sister when it was 3 years old and have kept it well maintained. I too failed the emissions test with high hydrocarbons.

Did you get it solved ?? if so, what was done ??

Current2 - Get it tuned up and warm it up thoroughly before you get it tested. Plugs, Air filter (check), PCV valve (check). Since changing some of the plugs in that engine is a pain, I'll bet there's one or two that haven't been changed in a while. Check the resistance of the plug wires while you have them off.

The plugs (PLATINUM) worth about $9 each were changed 30,000 miles ago, air filter is in excellent shape. I will check the PCV valve but it was okay around Christmas. There are no plug wires (coil packs instead)

Might be the plugs. 30K is a long time for my plugs. Get them from Toyota.

Oxygen sensor or air/fuel ratio sensor is also a possibly problem. See if there are any codes in your ECU.
