I plan on running Redline Synthetic D4ATF in the future(recommended by Redline), but is it compadable with Mercon. I.E. can I flush the Mercon out later and replace it with the D4ATF? I dont have the money right now for $150 worth of tranny fluid so I figured I'd just use Mercon for the time being. Any opinions?

Not sure if they will effect each other or not. Just keep in mind you will never really be able to fluch ALL the merc out. Therefore some will still be left in the valve body, and a good bit left in the converter, along will all the other little hiding places. I wouldnt think "chemically" (for lack of better words) that they would work against each other in any way. I just wouldnt be comfortable with it personally.

Sorta related, this thread reminded me of it, never use penzoil and switch to something else. bad things happen. Penzoil leaves deposits, other oils clean those deposits away.. its bad. I know two people who have changed from penzoil to castrol, on startup they heard a knocking for a few seconds, then over the next 30+ miles their oil pressure steadily dropped. Never ever use penzoil, it is pure evil in a liquid form.
Back on topic, you shouldn't have any problems, but why are you changing? Why do you need to spend $150 on trans fluid? I'd just stick with what you have unless you're doing some hardcore racing.

Cause I wanna run good quality fluid that is optimal for performance. Long lasting would be good as well.
