my opinion is that its not actualy a muscle car. but aside from that it sounds like you got a little something going, but its way over carbed. 3.83 gears, hummm, thats a new one.

It should turn some heads. You don't see people fixing these things up every day, so I think you'll have one of a kind wherever you live, so that should get you some attention. It's definitely better than having to drive around a normal '79 Monte, anyway...

you probably only need like 625CFM's, but you should probably get something in the range of 700-750CFM's, and just rejet it.
and no damn quadrajets either
ok fine then, dont get one of the best carbs you could ever run.

If your cam is truly bigger, then a Q-jet won't work well. Try a Carter AFB (Edelbrork)
I run Holley's on sme of my cars with some success. They are easily tuned, but they are miserable over rich over jetted things out of the box. You need to work on them to get them to work well, but are great for really big cams.
Otherwise your car is fine, mechanically. However, it does have a bit of the hillbilly trailer park look to it.
It would look much better if you lose the cheesy chrome and stainess. If you keep the chrome wheels and big scoop, make the rest all black.
And, whats is that thing on the back? Is that a rice rocket wing????? Oh, jeez, leave that for the civics with the neons.

Well, you asked for opinions.
IMHO the Monte is, at least in appearance, an over done car when it was made.
It has too many sheet metal folds and creases. Throw on the scoop, wing and wheels, and you have way too many features competing for your attention.
If you want it to be saken seriously, cut down on the glitter. The best looking custom rods are the more simple, smooth-looking ones.
Otherwise it looks like a cross between a 70's custom van and a Latino low rider. All you need are white walls and fuzzy dice!
Seriously, it is almost a nice looking car. At the very least, pull off the Monte Carlo name badges.

I like it. Monte's were not muscle cars though, to many luxury items. I have a 88 Monte Carlo SS thats a lot of fun.

doesnt matter what "people" like, its what you like. with that said, you asked for opinions...
the scoop needs to go, if you've got a big block under the hood and a Thermoquad (Chrysler carb?) you dont need anywhere near that much scoop. the wing is just GAY, lose it. put some real tires on it while you're at it. Wal Mart specials arent going to hook up with a big block under the hood.
