s14 differences between US and Japanese

Gotta quick question for the experts

What, if anything is the Difference between the 95-98 240sx in America and the Sylvia/180sx in Japan?

Primarily just on the outside but anyone with deep knowledge of the inside that would be good to know.

Well, there's obviously the drivetrain difference.

The Silvia has a 2L turbo SR20DET, while the 240SX has a 2.4L normally aspirated KA24DE.

I don't know about the early versions, but there is a difference in the newer facelifted S14s. On the headlights, the spacing between the sealed beam light and the projector beam light are different. They nearly look identical, but if you look closely, you'll see that.

There's the badges, too. I'll leave the other differences for someone else.

Over here it's KA24DE, not KA24DET, sicne the T stands for turbo. ALso, the 180SX in japan looks like the 91-94 240SX here and the S14 Silvia looks like our 95-98 240SX. Besides the drivetrain, badges and the odd lighting differences, they are the same car.

The JDM s14 koukis vs 97-98 240sx look identical but the JDM one has a far better looking front and rear bumper, turn signals that wrap around the side, and they have a different grill. That's just other than the already mentioned stuff.

well the biggest difference is... the silvia is RHD and 240sx is LHD ... :cwm27:

OK I'm feeling a little dumb here but could someone translate that into english for the Acronym imparred?

RHD = Right-Hand Drive
LHD = Left-Hand Drive

Meaning that in Japan the steering wheel is on the opposite side, i.e. RHD.

what do you mean by over here? there is no ka24det anywhere unless you personally make it yourself. Over there is an sr20 not ka. maybe thats how u said it but im just reading the info in the wrong way.

I just meant that it's KA24DE, Not KA24DET, because the guy said here it was a KA24DET. I know there's no KAs in Japan.

Oh well I stand corrected, even though I meant no KA in 240s lol. But wait, those things only have a 4 cyl? I know it's torquey, but it's still a 4cyl.

Well those things were like pickup trucks and vans, they will be carrying people or heavy loads, 4cyls would be very stressed by that, even a 2.4 liter one. Why do you think they advetise big V8s for pick up trucks?

Also because you need alot of torque if you're going to haul stuff.

there are other difference as well..i know cause i have a "JDM" silvia. the interior is different...i have an electrict climate control...my mirriors fold in when i shut the car off...the steering wheel is different(no airbag). my steering wheel is on the right side(obviously) the badging is different, mine says silvia....the front bumpers are better looking stock, and over here they come with sideskirts

a main visual difference between a silvia and a 240sx is the american verison normally contains a driver with nice teeth
