I would like to put HID's on my '02 Malibu, real ones, but I had some questions.
1. Will it hurt my electrical system?
I know they use less energy than Halogens, but just wanna be sure.
B. Does anyone know why people in the U.K. don't need ballast for their Xenons?
I know someone who live in London, and he bought some Xenons for a 1984 Ford Feista 1.1 litre, and didn't need a ballast.
3rd. Which brand would you recommend, if any?
Links are welcome. :lol2:

1- No if you are just buying the new bulbs.
B- Not sure
3- Eurolites they I think have the best power output for their price.
Check out my website (bottom of my sig.) to see what blue eurolights look like in a 99 Malibu. The light numbers for both high and low beams are 9005 and 9006.
Hope this helps

Yes those are just the replacement bulbs :frown:. For my friends civic he didnt replace the wiring when he did the HID conversion and it burnt up his lighting harness. I am not sure on a malibu thought, i would replace them because the use a lot more power than the stock ones.

The ballast should come with it's own wiring for the bulbs. Also, you will need a ballast no matter where you are. You may be thinking of the auto-levelling system that isn't required in some places. Ballasts are required for ALL HID lights, they will not function without them.
Your best bet is to just get a conversion kit, most are fairly easy to setup, just a few wires and you're set. I'm not sure on the malibu's, but on the Grand Am (similar layout) the negative is the trigger for the headlights instead of the positive. Make sure you work around that or your lights will never turn off.
Good luck with the project.

DoctorSpeed: Do you know what will happen if I put the Xenons in the sockets w/o the ballast?

What is my answer not good enough? Here’s some stuff that might interest you. The kit for the Malibu is the Evolution 8000K HID Kit; it can be bought at http://www.ngkits.com/customer/product.php?productid=5636&cat=29&page=1 for $400.

Sorry if I offended you Viper, I had a kit picked out already

Yours sounds promising but I'd like to see a pic...and I wonder if you have to "give up" your high-beam like the one I picked.
