Frustrated with Jaguar Corp

We purchased a new S-Type 2000 Jaguar. The car now has 40,000 miles and has had three transmissions. Starting with the second transmission, I tried to get Jaguar to step up to the plate and admit this car was faulty. Unfortunately nothing really happened. I just received a absurd "thank you for contacting Jaguar" message.
The car started having problems again about a month ago, I took it in and was told the car needed a new transmission. This would make the thrid. The car was also out of warrenty by three months which translated to my paying for the $6000 transmission. Again, I contacted Jag Corp and even got so far as to have a customer rep look into my case. They looked and declined any responsibilty. I got the transmission replaced and paid the 6 grand. The car has been out of the shop for three days. It has its third transmission. Yesterday, the car started making noise. I called the dealer and was told to have the car towed in. I was just notified that the car needs ANOTHER transmission. This will make the fourth. The thrid one was only three days old before it went out. So far we are getting about 10,000 miles per transmission and all Jag managed to offer was $1000 towards the third one.
I can not believe any car manufacturer would think so little of its customers that they turn a cold eye to a car that so obviously has a major fault. Four transmissions in 40,000 miles and they continue to say it is not their fault. I wonder whose fault it is?
I am currently taking Jaguar Corp to court. I would recommend that anyone even considering purchasing a Jaguar look elsewhere. You could end up with a car that is flawless but heaven help you if you don't.

LadyDriver,
Sorry to hear about your problems, unfortunately there are lots of similar posts about the 00 S-Types. it was a bad year.
The 03 and forward S-Type's are getting excellent owner reports and all the old problems seems to have been fixed. Don't give up on Jag if you love the car.
Good luck with your suit, Jag does owe you..

Sorry to hear of your problems, but from what I hear Jaguar have sorted out their problems from 03 on. Did you take them to court?

I have an S-Type 4.2 2003 with 21K miles, zero problems. I love this car, only regret is that I didn't get the supercharged R model. But I will........

Well, I guess I should not be surprised to find this here. I own a 2001 S-Type and have had my transmission replaced 3 times and the latest transmission starting to act up as well - in less than 1000 miles! Fortunately I purchased the extended warranty because of all the problems but Jaguar has done NOTHING for me either - I find there behavior appauling. I live in NJ and would like to know some more about your law suit - I think I will end up doing the same thing.

Dear LadyDriver:
My parent's just purchased a new 2004 S type. Before they bought it, I went with them, and for a test drive and I asked the Jag. salesmen about the transmission issues in the earlier s type like in the 2000 and 01 models?
He got real quiet for a moment and looked mighty sheepish and attempted to change the subject, but of course he is dealing with my father and my mother, and also knowing what you and some others here at the forum went through I didn't let up one bit!
He finally said well you know the transmission was a little problem with Jaguar S type from about 2000 to 2002, and Jaguar has satisfied most of the complaints with their valued customers, and now days Jaguar buys ALL their transmissions from a German Transmissions Company, it is the very same one that BMW uses for all their transmissions, and I suppose that you have heard how good they are!
(I thought to myself what a sales pitch!) but I said well, Lets go Mom and Dad, I suppose we should be looking at the new BMW 6 series in that case, and you should had seen this Jaguar salesmen face!
He tried his best to sell a Jaguar that day, but we took our new car business elsewhere. But my parents love the looks of the S type Jaguar, and there was no talking them out of it, so we went to another Jaguar dealership that we trust, and I hope that my parents who are in their seventy's don't start having transmission problems like you did!!! :banghead:
But if they do here in Georgia when we purchase new vehicles we buy the additional "lemon Law" for just a few dollars more, and it states that if we have the same problem numberous times (for more than three times), that the said car and along all dealer service documentation on the repeating problem will go before a "Lemon Law review board", and if it can be deemed: "a Lemon" then we then get 100% of our money back so we can buy another car.
Also I am now encouraging them to purchase the 7yr/100,00 mile extended warranty plan.
I do hope you can get your problem/issue resolved on your s type, and I am just curious, did you purchase the lemon law with your s type?
Also please keep us here at the Jag forum notified by these forum postings on how you adverse Jaguar S type repeating annoying transmission issue goes with Jaguar USA...I read somewhere at another forum where a 2002 S type Jaguar owner had a software problem along with some other annoying unresolved issue, and he excised his right with the lemon law, and it took effect and got his Jaguar Dealer to buy back his 2002 under the "lemon law", and I read where he is now drives a brand new 2005 Jaguar S type. :naughty:
Sincerely,
Presley348 :smokin:
PS,
Don't give up the fight with Jaguar, problems with the transmission seems to be an ongoing problem with 2000-02 models. :nono:
You might want to check with your attorney and see what recourse you have legally, i.e., if there is really a class action law suit going on at this time ce the 2000 S type transmission problems? :naughty:
