To send an SMS to an American... ?

I'm trying to send a texto to an American frien living in Florida. His number is : XXX XX XX. But I don't know if there is a "prefix", the prefix for the USA are +1, if I'm not wrong (I'm sending that from France [+33]), but for Florida ?....

You need a 1 - (area code) which is 3 numbers, and then his 7 numbers.

Should look like this. 1-123-321-4444

But alas I don't know the area code. They live near Lakeland in Florida (between Orlando and Tampa). But is it the same code and rules for a mobile phone ? and can you recognize a mobile phone with the number ?

To send an SMS/Texto, it costs here 0,15EUR. But with some promotional offers, it can be less.
Profits made on each SMS is about 0,12EUR !! quite interesting for operators (Bouygues, SFR and Orange in France).
