I'm having a problem like that, my stereo main screen wont light up when I'm driving. Sometimes it will when I'm not, its all intermittent. I've checked all the wiring, and it seems ok. I've been told it could be the fuses or the battery, not sure if this helps at all.

I had the same problem, i thought it might have been the alternator, so i replaced it. It ended up that one of the cells in the battery was dead, so i replaced it, and it worked fine.

most likely your negative ground cable is loose and not tottaly connected. It happened to me when i moved my battery to the back of my car. If its not firmly attached to the frame it will almost short and cause the lights to get really dim, radio to reset, etc.

2 things to try:

First, check the condition of your ground cable. Corrosion = bad contact / intermittent contact. Try cleaning the cable connector and mating surfaces with an aerosol electrical cleaner (costs about $1.99)

Second, look for loose connections. I had an intermittent starter problem that my mechanic couldnt figure out. Turned out the previous owner did crappy job installing the alarm. I replaced a few wire connectors and problem went away. With the radio on, wiggle the wires and see if the stereo cuts out. Also if you feel any wires that are warm to the touch, that's probably where the problem is.

Good luck
