Just informed that my evaporator core is leaking, also the expansion valve needs to be replaced... They wanted $1,500 bucks... Ouch!!! I'm pretty handy and I have the time. Anybody know how difficult this repair is, and how much it will cost to do it myself? I live in Texas, gotta have the AC working. I understand that the whole dash needs to come off, is it worth the effort, or should I trade her in for a new ride?

Thanks in advance.

Frank, I have the same issue on my 2000 Caravan. I was told it was the heater core and I've since replaced it. Tearing the dash apart wasn't that much effort. It only took about 40 minutes. I'm going to tear into it again and change the evaporator. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I've got the same issue and wondered if either of you have a diagram to where the core is located behind the dashboard and how to get to it.

Wow. Thanks for posting that link. This subject comes up fairly often. Many will use it. Welcome to the forum.

Just one thing. Re-opening a thread older than a few months is frowned on. This one is 5 years old. What to do? Just start a new thread next time. Cheers.
