Silver Celica and Paint Chipping

I have a 2001 Toyota Celica in the silver colour. I have found that the paint is chipping in places that cannot be caused by stone chips or trauma. I did a quick search on the internet and found one other person who noticed paint chipping on his silver Toyota Celica. I would like to know if anyone else has noticed this. I suspect it is a problem with this paint. Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions. I am very frustrated.

Until you decide to do something about it, I hope you are putting touch-up paint were the chips came out.
I would bring it back to the dealer. See what happens.

I have a black 2001 gt. and as I was washing the car with a garden hose, the paint on the bumper peeled off. Before i realized it i hand a 6X6 chip in the paint.

Paint is covered for only 3 years or 36,000 miles which ever comes first.
In almost all cases.

that really sucks! Sounds just like all those paintless NEON's you see out there, they peel like a chick that don't wear sunscreen!

The reason your paint is chipping is because the clear coat is weathered and is going to s**t. The main problem is that almost all the manufactures have always had a problem with the grey and silver. Mainly that the body isn't preped correctly or the paint job itslef is shabby in workmanship. Usually the clear coat is too thin and it goes bad fairly quick...

Now the good new. Yes the manufacture has a warrenty that is fairly cheap and runs out fast, BUT... the manufacturer of the paint itself normaly has a lifetime quarenty!!! Find out who made the paint (DUPONT, MARTIN SENIOR, PPG, SIKIENS.....) and then contact them and have them send a rep out to take a look at it. You might be able to get it completely repainted at the paint manufacturers expense.
