Hey i just bought a 92 the other day, and it didnt have a cd player or tape deck or anything. I've installed a few cd players before and i know how to do it, but this one is giving me some problems. I have a wiring diagram from intall doctor, and i have all the speaker wires hooked up properly (i think), and there are a few power wires that are giving me some shit. It says that the + 12 volt battery wire is a red w/ black stripe, and i have that hooked up fine. The ground wire i know is screwed into the metal on the dash, but the 12 volt ignition wire it says is blue. Now the guy who had this before me took things into his own hands and has a long blue wire connected to the fuse box, i have tried this wire and i still have no luck. Does anyone know how i can get power to this damn thing lol, i have been driving around without a cd player for a few days now and im thikning about killing myself. thanks

the blue wire is probably an aftermarket power wire check at the fuse box where he tapped it and checkt that the fuse isn't blown. if he tapped it to the original radio power point then one blown fuse would knock out both power wires.

so if the fuse is not blown, would that wire be the wire i am needing to connect for the 12 volt ignition

ussually the blue wire is the remote power wire, which you hook up an amp with,i've done alot of radios and that is ussually what the blue wire is for

If it is an aftermarket wiring harness. this is the stock harness that he is using. A remote turn on lead would not be hooked into the fuse box. Solid blue could also be power antenna, which in fact most of the time it is and remote power is blue with white.
Rob is right, the blue wire would probably be an aftermarket power wire. Which is surprising because usually the stock wires on the 1G DSM's are pretty decent to run a simple CD player.
Ignition wire would not be hooked up to a constant power source, think about it. IGNITION is only when the ignition is on. It is usually a red wire, I didnt know that they were blue on our cars. It should be comming out of the stock harness, if it is not there I don't really know.
I dont understand why people do not spend the 10 dollars and buy a wiring harness for aftermarket CD players instead of trying to use a wiring diagram and the stock colors. what happens when you want to change decks? Now you are in a real situation which is gay because of someone elses idiocy.
I would say that if you still have the stock plug which would have been cut off, just splice it back on and go buy a wiring harness. If not hit up a wrecker and see if you can get it from them. It will be a lot easier in the future, and everything will be hooked up correctly right now. That is what I would do personally, that way it can be done right once and for all.
ROB--> Do you have one of those for this guy if he cant find one?
