i hear people putting tt exhaust on their na what does that do for the car. Does it gain more horspower or sound. Why do they do that

Because the vr4 exhaust is larger in diameter than the SL exhaust, it flows more air therefore giving you more hp. The vr4 exhaust is still stock looking, so it isn't as flashy or loud as an aftermarket exhaust. Best of all it's really cheap, as many vr4 owners upgrade their exhausts, so you can get a used catback vr4 exhaust for about 75 opposed to the 600-1000 for an aftermarket one like Borla or ATR.

I have no luck on finding VR-4 catbacks. Where can you get one? I'm willing to buy one pretty much right now.

www.3si.org, just keep an eye on their parts for sale page, perhaps you can post asking for one. I will sell mine when I switch to ATR...that just wont happen for 2-3 years. sorry

Call and ask at www.3sxperformance.com or call ATR. I would think so, but I don't know if the hangers are in the same places.

dsm, I would sell you mine, but I don't have the money for the mods I want right now, and the exhaust isn't high on the priority list. If I had the money I'd do it, but I can't.

Would there be enough back pressure with the higher flow for a NA engine?

The vr4 exhaust fit on it, they have the same hangers(I'm almost positive), I am just saying that an aftermarket exhaust may make use of different hangers. Their hangers might fit on a vr4 but may need slight modifications if they utilize different hangers than the stock locations.
Stock vr4 exhaust is ~2.75inches, so it should be ok as far as backpressure.

im confused... the base/sl has 2.5 inch piping where as the vr4 has 3 inch. how do you fabricate the 3" end to fit up to the stock 2.5" cat? I'd love to know cuz who wouldn't love to save 100 bucks by buying the TT exhaust from Borla vs. the NA exhaust. Any links on how its done?

Well, aftermarket vr4 exhaust is typically 3inch from ATR, ~2.8 from borla, and ~2.75 stock. Any exhaust shop can build you a short adapter that flares out from 2.5-3in that isn't hard. Then you would just have to cut a bit of the catback exhaust down and get it all together. But 3in exhaust on an Sl will hurt your low-end torque because you wont have the necessary backpressure.
