 crap! Doesn't shit like that just get under your skin? People who don't pay attention to what they are doing are the ones that should have their lisence sliced up and never get it back :nutkick:

But, as you said, there is silver lining coming with the pain job

And even worse, he probably didn't have any damage at all to his car right? That sucks, some idiot did that to me in my moms car 3 years ago, and then the jerk didn't even get out to check for damages, he just up and drove off. Luckily there were none, but that is just being a prick.

Shit man, I feel for you even though it has never happened to me (knock on wood). Will insurance cover that at all? God I hope so. Good luck with the repairs and insurance and all.

thanks guys.
it will be going through his insurance, and since its an insurance company i say get em for all you can.
the hood has to be replaced, the bumper has to be replaced, the headlight, the side has to be replaced and all has to be blended in with the paint, so paint job included, plus labor, using all mitsubishi parts, nothing aftermarket, and no junkyard stuff. its just cool i basically get a paint job :)

Go somewhere else and get a more expensive estimate . . . to heck with insurance companies LoL

Yeah...get the highest estimate you can...then get the 99 conversion if you so desire...

99 conversion is so expensive! I would spend that cash (if I had it or the VR-4) in bigger turbos!

Other than the inconvenience I think this is a blessing in discise. A similar thing happened to me, (not my spyder, thank god,) but my brand new Dakota and a fork lift. Their insurance co. wanted three bids from different body shops and they interne took the lowest and wrote a check out to that body shop for the amount of the estimate and mailed it to me. Not knowing this was going to happen, the first body shop gave me a straight up estimate, the next two shops asked me if I wanted a high or low estimate, I said high, the rest is history. If this would have happened to my Spyder I would have taken it to the highest bidding body shops in the area (usually the dealerships) until I got 3 comparative high bids. Then I would go to this web site http://www.3sxperformance.com/faq/99/index.asp and make the decisions to have the body shop order this stock Mitz. 99 nose and head lamps + hood, anytime you can get rid of moving parts i.e. the old head lights, I think your better off. After the body shop paints the nose, I would take it to film shop (window tint) and have a clear bra put on. I love mine, it doesn't have UV protection in it so all the paint fades at the same time. As for the hood I would seriously consider a graphite viper hood. This comes in black only and should not be painted, has a cool hood scoop though, and should help in the weight dept. Sorry I haven't done my home work on the hood or the license plate mount or bracket. However I'll bet this could be done for very close to price you mentioned in your post. In any case good luck with all! P.S. I would paint the 99 headlight wells black also.
