I Just bought a 90 turbo 5 spd targa, no mods yet but i have a problem My friend (spoiled as he is) bought a 99 GT mustang 5 spd a couple months ago and basically all he does is brag... He put cobra R accesories on it but no engine mods yet. Hes soon to get a supercharger so i want to take advantage while he doesnt have it. Is there any chance in hell that i can get my heavy ass supra to beat him in a street race without costing a fortune? I dont really expect to beat him but if i did man i would shut him up. Any replies would be helpful except for people telling me that im crazy even thinking about beating him.:screwy: Thnx...

Get a Manual Boost Controller for like $20 off ebay and a boost gauge. Crank up the boost a ways and drive well. You might have a chance. You take the risk of blowing a head gasket or worse though. Only do it if your car is running really well. I'd check compression first. Only run it like that for the race.

Hey thanx for the advice...But if i were to buy a new boost controller, how much would that cost rather than ebay cause i dont like buyin shit off ebay unfortunately. And would a universal fit controller be ok or one specifically for the mkIII. And the previous owner installed a MHG so you still think its dangerous for the car? thanx man

well...a mkiii cant boost over 11psi until it has had some work done to it, so if you got a boost controller and turned it up it would go from 7psi to 11...im not exactly sure what you have to do to get it higher but i wouldnt go any higher than that anyway till you do internals, i know the mkiv wont run 18psi till you get rid of the factory dp and set the twins to simultaneous spool. to look into it further find a mkiii tech site, there may be a link to one on www.mkiv.com, im not real sure. oh and you can build yourself a manual boost controller if youd like for about 10-15 bucks, mkiv.com has a tutorial on how to.

nope its 14 psi without an fcd. 13's in a mkiii turbo are very easy to attain. and if you shop right, it wont cost you an arm and a leg. they respond very well to mods. they easily run low 15's stock. but curing the bhg issue isnt really a big thing. get arp studs and an oem gasket and torque to 62 and it shouldnt be a problem.
