ignition coils question

Hi I'm new to the board. I was wondering if an after market coil like MSD would help very much to make the pony quicker ?

I'm turning this into as much of a poor mans race car as possible. any performance increase suggestions are very welcome. Dosen't need to be street leagal.It just my auto-cross car.

So far I have done the exhaust , it's gutted and, lowerd ( poor man style ). I'm not looking for top speed I want quickness.

remove your intake silencer, it's underneath the air filter box. Give it a K&N filter ($49). Or get an intake kit, if you can find one. Hell, I'm workin on a recessed hood scoop for my 'Scort.
