Well I tried and tried for the 1.5 years I had my 1997. Put more money into it than I ever expected. I LOVE this car but my deep pockets have been sewn up. Right now everything works, but for who knows how long. I hate to depart with her but nothing on this vehicle has cost me less than $400 to fix and IF you can get someone that knows how to work on it. Thanks to all the support I received on line here. I did get some excellent tips and saved lots of money....What it comes down to is just what one member here said....I hate driving a car that I feel may break down at any moment. It's up for sale if anyone is interested but the window for sale is short. CarMax here in Fla gave me a quote that I may accept if don't sell in next day. If interested, email me and I can call and we can discuss details.

Good bye you green piece of crap!
I went from the most expensive Oldsmobile, to the cheapest Toyota.

Free at last, free at last, lord have mercy, I am free at last.

exactly! I'm dumping my Aurora and getting a Camry sedan or Solara. One look at Camry engine and it's simple, easy to reach design and you can easily tell what kind of SOB's designed Aurora and it's stupid coil-pack with an invisible bolt in the back that intentionally blocks 4 rear sparkplugs and wires that you have to change every 10,000 miles. A man has to be out of his mind to pay $37,000 for an Aurora when he can buy a Mercedes E-Class for $35000 or a Camry V-6 Loaded for $22,000. A new Aurora should be $17000, even at that price it's only good for 80,000 miles. Toyota is good for $300,000 miles.

Got to admit it, thats funny...
Kidding aside, we spent 6yrs in Knoxville are and that was the best most relaxed time in our lives. Would have gone to your area but that was the next closest oportunity for us.
Good luck with the toyota.

:gives: Hahaha! Good luck with your boxy TOYOTA STEPFORD WIVES CLONE CAR!!!It's amazing how many people in our society are clones with Toyota's I'll be cruising in and out of storms and the coming bad winter with my aerodynamic shaped stealthy American classic!!! Oh and um I will be purchasing a warranty that will cover the rest of the years to back up the costs during the time I will keep her. Just because the marketing suits over at Oldsmobile did not know how to capatilize the concept of the AURORA does not mean its not as dependable as a Toyota! I had a Toyota cressida and maintained it and it had many parts replaced and was left stranded a few times. Also had a Nissan Sentra and that broke down a few times and there were parts also to replace that were almost or just as expensive. Alot of foreign cars on this site have many problems that I was surprised when reading them. Knock on wood never stranded yet with this car. :nutkick:

Toyota Cressida you bought probably was an abused high mileaged one and sentra you bought is the worst car Nissan ever made.
I know how good 1992+ Camries are because have 1 with 300,000 miles that runs like new and as far as Nissans go, they're little lower quality than Toyota but My brother sold his 1986 Hardbody small pickup truck with 286000 miles and the truck ran like new, only part he changed was clutch after million shifts! so hold on to your Aerodynamic Aurora, also hold on to your extended warranty because you're gonna need it. For me, it's Only Toyota or Mercedes for now. Good luck.

Trust me, I've owned 95 cars(truth) last 20 yrs including 7 mercedes and 5 Toyotas. I don't say these cars are Perfect, no car is perfect, they all get problems, but compared to all the other cars in market, it's been proven to me that Mechanically Toyota is #1 Mercedes#2 Honda #3 Nissan#4 Mitsubishi#5, Hyundai #6 Ford#7 GM#8 Chrysler#8 maybe with their new cars, this order changes in the future, but for now I'd stick to it.

:sunglasse Yeah I had a Toyota Cressida(Another money drain you could save and buy a house with what you spend on these cars) and was maintained to almost perfection and a Nissan Sentra and could not believe all the problems these 2 cars had even though they had a great reputation. Also know somebody with a VOLVO and that has a bunch of problems still and only has 120,000 miles and is a 1987. She keeps it maintained also but has many repairs.

I agree with Kentucky Joe about Bush letting oil companies rob us and starting the war to give contractors business, but please stop calling all people from Middle East or slightly tanned! people san niggers, if you call them sand niggers then they can call you tree niggers! or rock niggers or where ever. It's easy to call people names but if you get to know them you'll see many of them are warm, intelligent, peaceful people. Yes, Middle East did not raise the price of oil, Geroge Bush did, so himself and his Texas buddies can make a few billion bucks before he's gone and pay corporations back for their contribution to Republican Corp-puppets. oops, I forgot, this is Aurora forum, o yes, my 4700 pound aurora(4000car+500 pound lift in the back I've installed+me in it), gets average 21/24 mpg city/highway after I installed NGK irridium spark plugs and Borg-Warner plug wires. It's pretty good mileage for the fat car. My advice is, other than plugs/wires, use synthetic oil+ change trans fluid every 20,000 miles and add 1 injector cleaner to fuel every 5000 miles. Mine runs perfect now (for a fat American car that is, heeheehee)

No punt intended but wait till Kerry takes office, he wants another 50 cents per gallon, as for who raised the price, if they (fundalmentalist) continue their murderous ventures for God and virgins, gas will be 4.00 dollars a gallon. If it means we have to go in and take names so be it, but they can't just fly into buildings. Idiots, stupid idiots caused this not Bush.

well,,i agree with the other post,,all cars have there share of problems..i work with a person who bought a bran new honda civic..he didn't even have the car 6 months and it began leaking antifreeze..brought it back to the dealer and had to have a defective head gasket replaced..on the contrary i have a neighbor with a 95' aurora, the car has close to 140,000 miles and has had nothing go wrong with the car..still has the original plugs and wires,,water pump,,radiator,,starter etc..the only things he had to replace were both front speed sensors,,and the water pump belt..sonds unbelieveable,,but it's true..not a single problem with the transmission either..i also belive the car will treat you the way it has benn treated..if you neglect a car and beat it up your asking for problems..and my final opinion is if you want to compare a american with a japanese car their is no comparison..lets see a japanese car give you nice smooth, solid ride you get in a aurora or cadilac..in general they ride like tin...

Nice, smooth ride like Aurora or cadi?!!!! I guess you haven't tried Infiniti Q45, Lexus LS400 or Mercedes S class yet, but they all are smooth and quiet going 140mph, something neither cadi nor aurora can even dream of. I drove my 1991 Infiniti Q45 at 140mph and we could talk and listen to music in a quiet and stable cabin. Drive Cadi or Aurora at 140 and it gets so unstable, scary and noisy makes you plan your Tombstone writing rightaway. Yes you're right, there is no comparison. Aurora? I'd say it's worth 18000 new. Cadi? ooo about 25000 new. Definitly not 40-50 grand!

well first of all i would not drive any car i own 140 miles an hour..i don't think thats exactly healthy for any car including infinity, lexus or mercedes..that goes back to my original statement a car will treat you the way it has been treated..2nd i can say yes,,i have drove in a mercedes,,and it is a beautiful car but i still have to say it did not ride as solid ,smooth and overall as nice as the cadilac or aurora..lets also look at the overall appearance of these vehicles..the aurora and cad hold their own as far as looks..as i mentioned my neighbors aurora for example has 140,000 miles and only needed to replace the two front speed sensors and the water pump belt..have you had the same good fortune with you mercedes, lex or infinity after 140,000 miles ????

I didn't say I drove my Infiniti everyday at 140mph to shopping center up the street, I meant "Even at 140mph which most American engines other than Viper or corvette would blow a fuse, Infiniti was smooth, quiet and stable. As far as Aurora goes, after I drove my 90 (not 91) Q45 for a year and then sat into an Aurora (one in mint shape with 53000 miles which I still own and has 103000, 5 yrs later) I right away noticed 3 obvious differences, Heavy feeling and lack of power, bouncy body at turns or lane changes, heavy steering wheel feel, and on the positive side, nice dash design and computer. Regarding Mercedes, drive a 1992 or newer S500 and you'll feel you're on clouds, and that giant car flies like a porche, pssssst, hello GM engineersssss? Personally I'd take a 2000 S500 with 50,000 miles over a brand new Aurora anyday.

if you dont like the aurora dont post on our forum. Less power? Im sorry, but the Aurora will kill your Infiniti. Infinitis are nice cars. I drove my Aurora to 130mph, didnt get to 140 because I was scared for cops, and it was very smooth. The Aurora is heavy feeling? No shit, its a big fancy car.

Ignorance is a terrible thing. Aurora kicks Q45's ass? hehehehehehehehehehhehehe Please test drive a new Q45 then talk, or else people think you live in a trailer park and have 3rd grade education. I'm neither mercedes nor Infiniti's stockholder so what I'm saying is based on my personal experience with all 3 makes and models. In fact I've owned an Aurora for the past 5 years and for the past 1.5 year it's given me hardtime not passing emission and misfiring, I changed plugs 3 times wires 3 times, all 4 of it's stupid coil pack, oxygen sensors, and finally catalytic converter after multiple diagnosis tests at 4 mechanics, finally it runs good and the Indian guy at testing center did me a favor ignored the "service engine soon" light that came on after I changed the sensors. Now you love your great American car? I hope you and your Mrs. Aurora get old together, I'm sick and tired of the fat bi....h.

I am an owner of both a 1997 Aurora and a 1986 camry. I love both of the cars. I only kept the camry because it has been so dependable for me, but the aurora has been very dependable as well. The camry gets better MPG but the aurora is a beautiful, powerful, prestigious vehicle that deserves some respect. I love the aurora and the only bad thing I could say would be the lack of aftermarket accesories and expensive maintainance. Lastly any person who could speak so poorly of the aurora obviously never gave it a real chance. There is no such thing as a stupid car only a stupid owner.

I guess Aurora is powerful (if you haven't tried a more powerful car for same or less price) it's beautiful (if you haven't seen a more beautiful car) and prestigious (if your standard of prestige is not too high). But to me, it's not the car that's the main problem, it's what the car offers for what it costs new. For $35000+ car you can do lot better. A $35000+ car must have better performance, better drive, better ride or at least be easier and cheaper to maintain, but if you love your Aurora, it's a free country, KEEP IT. I'm dying to get back the smooth, quiet, powerful feeling of Q45 or S/SL500 again.

As I said the Aurora deserves respect, I did not say it is for everybody. Honestly I do like the new G35. Regardless the Aurora is a premium blend of performance and comfort for an affordable price used. Granted new Auroras are costly, but compared used to other used Mercedes and Infinity the Aurora is a great option if you can afford it. It would be impossible to find a 97 Benz for 3K, yet this is possible with an Aurora. The saddest part is how you slander this car that you yourself own and drive. I am happy, I made an intelligent purchase of my Aurora, i take care of it and it takes care of me, what is your malfunction? You cant compare apples and oranges. I have a 65 mustang with a 302 that will smoke any aurora, Infinity or Benz stock, but thats not fair. SL500 very nice, but way more expensive, your paying for brand equity. This is not a forum for haters!!!!

I have driven my aurora for almost 3 years now and as my first car I ever owned, it was my first love. However, repair expenses are pretty overwhelming for that car espicially since I am a college student and since I got everything on the car perfect, I am going to sell.
I am looking into a newer monte carlo ss, I heard they are pretty well-made cars. And my the way, how are you going to compare a benz to an aurora, all you haters need to ride out.

You know, I'd have to agree with you on a NEW Aurora. Of course, I bought mine about 4 years old, and the poor bastard that was the sole previous owner took a 75% raping on depreciation. I bought a car that waaay trumped the 93 Pontiac Bonneville I was driving at that point for $9000!!! I'd like to see you buy a Lexus or any of those others in perfect shape for that much. In this case, when I benefit from depreciation, it a good thing to me- at least when I fully intend to drive it into the ground. I can afford to fix a few things with a car that cheap.

I am a college student as well and I agree that the expenses are high, but that can be expected to an extent with a luxury car, because that is what it is. My mechanic said, "people who can afford this car, can also afford to fix it". Very true I suppose, either way the aurora is a great car.
Oh and by the way, I was at the car wash and saw a 01 Monte Carlo SS. I always thought they had V8s but his only had a 3800 V6, which is the same engine in the Grand Prix GT. He said it is frustrating because he gets smoked by Grand Prix SE somtimes. Other than that he said he was happy with the Carlo, But the Aurora would eat it for lunch. Maybe the newer ones have bigger engines???

its not whether your sand, samshi, turbin, cowboy hat or wana be gangsta. there's cool people (intelligent, with zeal) and uncool people (dumb, complain about everything, cry over a paper cut and can't change a bulb without bitchin). driving an aurora has it challenges especially if you take it to every shop for everything. (like the hypocondraic goin to the doctor for every little thing and gettin every pill for every little thing). gota do your own research, your own work on it sometimes (plus its very rewarding). or just get a battery powered scooter to buzz round town. i can't complain about mine (3 grand for a black on black autobahn). go ahead and have your plain clone honda, toyota, hyundai. if everyone had the same car, like all the monkey see monkey do's gettin the new magnum, chrysler 300, honda, it wouldn't be as cool to own a unique auto. -real bang for the buck sports cars- 1994-1996 dodge stealth twin turbo- 2000 pontiac formula firebird. THE AURORA IS A CRUISER WITH POWER.
