I have a 1985 S-10 Blazer 4x4, manual transmission and would like to replace the 2.8l motor with a new one. This is a project to attempt with my 16 y/o son. I have never done anything like this before but have some pretty good manuals to go by. Where do I get my engine and what else should I replace while I've got it broken down?

u could maybe find a good one at a junk yard, if not, look around, there are alot of vehicles out there that use(d) a 2.8, and im sure it will be easy to find, just be sure to label all the vacuum lines and electrical connections, and since u have a manual transmission, it will amke it alot easier to get out and back in if u loosen up the tranny and slide it back because i put a 2.8 in my 87 s-10 and when we put it back in it was harder than hell to line up the clutch splines with the tranny splines and we f(@#*d my cluthc up in the process and had to turn right around and put a new one in....but as far as parts....a new clutch kit wouldnt be a bad idea, new oilpan, valve cover, and intake gaskets (it its a used engine), water pump, oil pump, and new timin gears and chain wouldnt be a bad idea....and adjust your pushrods if u put a used motor in....
