okay I changed the Idle air control valve car still seems to idle low and at times it will catch its self and not stall car has to be running for awhile to have this happen :banghead: . I am now wondering if its the Throttle control does this sound like it to anyone here no codes car is good on gas. I have changed the EGR the Fuel filter the Idle AC control and the water pump new air filter new plugs new modular new coils. ughh just wondering the car is an 88 lesabre 3.8 with 109082 miles on it gets 220 miles to a tank in city not a bad car at all i never want it to die.
Thanks to anyone who can offer there:2cents: .

Hi Michelle (sp)?
My 94 LeSabre has 212000 miles and I get about 500 miles a tankful on a trip, around 350 in town, I am having some problems with it now, but this is the first in 9 years, I bought it in Feb/95 with 27000 on it.
They are great cars, So if I were you I would look for an expert in diagnosing the comp/sensor systems in your car. Good Luck

Sounds like it is a little out of adjustment. I dont think the TPS is bad. The adjustment procedure requires some tools that are not common (rpm measurement and digital voltmeter, or a scan tool) but I think an expert should be able to get the idle up so it doesnt die. I did the adjustment procedure in the manual, and my '87 idled a little too fast for me, so I tweaked the procedure till I got a lower idle.

try tapping on the mass air flow sensor, see if that makes it flucuate, i had a 89 and it would idle high, and it turned out being the mass air flow sensor. junk yard part 5 bucks, napa 750 bucks

:) Check the oxegen sensor. If the car exhauts is black, there is the problem. After you change the sensor, unhook the neg (-) post on the battery and let it sit for a minute, then put it back on. Give it about 10-15 minutes, and 2-3 starts and it should be fine. :)
