96 Taurus Air Bag 41 trouble Code

Anyone know what a 41 trouble code indicates on a '96 Taurus? I understand it's a sensor, but I checked the two front sensors and they seem fine. Took it to the dealer who charged me a couple hundred bucks and said that he repaired a wire in the steering wheel. When the problem returned a few months later, I pulled the steering wheel to find, no repair and no indication that it had ever been off the car. Either that, or that's one damn good mechanic not to leave any marks at all on the plastic trim caps.

"Oxygen Sensor Signals Swapped Bank 1 Sensor 2 / Bank 2 Sensor 2" is what PO041 is according to a quick search. I can't help much more than that though.

Great, thanks I take it that the 'air bag' indicator light serve as a provided for the 'codes' for engine problems? I'm I correct?

Really can't say tegger. I hope to learn from some acknowleded person. Maybe it involves a more sophisticated reader than the plain OBD II that I have. Like transmissions - I now know that there are scanners just for them. I am learning a little all the time, all the electronics in today's cars...
Anyhow, lots of luck.

I understand that the auto manufacturers don't release their extended codes to the aftermarket scan tool makers, as the law does not force them to. They really want you to go to the dealer, I guess. I don't see how the signals from the sensors could be "swapped", as there is nothing switched in the wiring. On my '96 Taurus, the two impact sensors are located between the radiator support and the plastic grill. they are very difficult to get to (I had to remove the entire bunper cover & grill to get to them). There is also a safing sensor located in the middle of the dash, underneath.
Anyone know if sensor no. 1 is on the driver or passenger side of teh car?
