G-tech base line before new motor

I just started doing a motor swap from my 89 GT into my 91 notch. I was hoping to get a base line 1/4 mile run of the notch at the track before the swap, but unforeseen circumstances accord and I never made it.

Today I got my GT all torn down with some help of some friends, now the motor is now ready to come out first thing tomorrow morning.

One of them happened to have a G-tech and asked if I wanted to run the notch before the motor came out. First run, I pulled at 13.9 at 108 mph with some wheel spin, not bad for a fairly stock car. Second run I pulled at 13.1 at 119 mph.

Now I know the 13.1 run has to be off, but the 13.9 run feels about right for that car. Now I can't wait to get 1/4 mile times for the new motor!

What are you expecting to run with your GT motor in the notch? mid-low 12's?

I'm hoping for somewhere in the 12's, not really sure what to expect so I'm not going to get a exact time. I was able to pull a 13.6 at 103 mph with a 2.2 60ft in the GT. The notch has a better suspension now then the GT did, and it's a lot lighter car. Not to mention its a 5 speed, to my GT's AOD.

How is the weight transfer in the notch compared to a GT? I was told that a Gt would have better traction due to the notch's lighter rear-end.

Also, what do you plan on doing with your GT? Gonna put the notch motor in it and use it as an everyday driver? Sell it?
You could put the notch motor in the GT, sell it, and use the money to put a bottom end in your built motor.

From my experience with G-tech, I find them very inaccurate. One of my friends used one in his car and it claimed he was running mid 12's. Then he went to the track and could not do better than a 13.4. I also tried using one when I had my GT. It gave a reading around a 13.5 or something, then when I ran the car, my best was a 14.26. Another friend of mine used one and it said he was getting high 14's in his LS1, when his best was really a low 13. I don't know why some people would want to waste $200 on one.

When do you think you will be finished with swap.

Well I got both motor out of the cars today, and the Built motor from the GT is in now resting in the notch. I HOPE to have the notch running by the end of the day wednesday. After that I'll take my time rebuilding the GT. I'll post picstures later tonight after I grab some grub.

Man all sorts of crazy stuff is going on over in your little shop. Wish I was as motivated as you are. It would of taken me a month to get what you got done. Good luck with the rest of the work. let us know what you run when you get done.

Thanks! I got the Notch up and running today. That car is now going to get my arrested! I'm going to spend the day tomorrow working out all the little bugs, and it will be ready for some serious drag runs!
