I have a stock 96 cobra with 21k on the odometer. Today my trans began acting up. Trans does not want to shift into 3rd or 4th gear. The car was actually stuck in 3rd for short time and would not go into 4th gear. All other gears work perfect. Clutch seems fine. Could this be caused by a bent shifter? Car will now shift into 3rd and 4th it just grinds slightly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Car is bone stock. Thanks for your time

either a bent shift fork or a synchronizer sleeve... probably the latter. if there was a problem with the pressure plate the car would do the same in all gears.

Yup.
I'd say 3-4 synchro maybe? Not sure what trans is in all the mod cars. But you may need new brass all the way thrue your trans.

Does this mean I need a new trans (T-45)? Or can I just replace the 3-4 synchro? If so any price quotes? Seems odd this failing only after 21k miles. Any recommendations on stronger trans

my car only did it going into first from a roll.... and sometimes while downshifting... i replaced the pressure plate and it fixed it

Thats because your clutch wasnt fully disengaging.
