i'd say any 2.4L which would be 96-99 I believe. They put out most torque, HP, and weigh the least. 5 spd really helps a lot too.

2.4L went all the way to 2002 buddy.

Any 2002+ Car with the 2.2 Ecotec (not to be confused with the 2.2 OHV the ecotec engine says ecotec on it) or the 2.4 both w/ 5 speeds. Ive heard of them running anywhere from 15flat and up stock.

no ecotec is gonna run 15 flat stock, thats just something ecotec fanboys wanna believe. The 2.4L wont run that either.

all 2.4's from 96 - 2002 have 150hp 155 tq. The only difference being they changed from the Isuzu tranny to the Getrag.

studballs is right.

And NO 2.4 will run 15.0 stock.. You are wrong.

The best time possible in a 2.4 stock with a perfect light would be 15.6-15.7, and even then.. good luck.

that just shows how little you know about drag racing. Cause anyone whos been to the track knows that making a perfect light has nothing to do with 1/4 ET. The fact is you could sit at that light as long as you want, then after 15 seconds or so go and it would still be your normal time. The ET timer doesnt start untill your wheels move. . . And to show how you dont read anything properly, no one said anything about a 2.4L running 15 flat stock. And my 2.4L auto runs 15.8-16.1 depending on wheather and a few other things. If my auto can do 15.8 a manual with a good driver should be mid to low 15's.

Let me clear some things up. there was never a 95 cavi with 175hp, the 95 cavi z24 came with the (LD2) making 150hp.

It is possiable for a LD9 powered or even L61 power jbody to cut a 15 time (probably highly unlikly, but im sure it could happen) I mean there are factory freaks that just defy the norm. so taking that into consideration it could happen. Ive hear of 95+jbodys running in the low 15s (i think 15.3 is the lowest)

And the jbody rated with the most HP is the 96-02 j's with the LD9. (ecotec maybe underated maybe overated i dont know, but im going by factory specs.)
