The only thing I could think of is the power supply isnt putting out a good 12v when the car is off. Try testing that wire for voltage.

hmmm, well the car starts fine though and doesnt show any sign of being flat so would it still be that ?

It could be that your battery is just low

agreed. i'd check the 12v + lead when the car is not running and see what it gives out for voltage... odds are it's below the minimum required power for the screen.
the easiest way to fix that is to build/put a voltage regulator on the line, so the screen is always getting EXACTLY what it wants. a good source for that might be a DC-DC computer PSU for carputers. some of them will accept anything from 5-18VDC and give you exactly 12VDC. it would probably be good to run the PS2 through that too...

Check the power wire to you TV. Your battery may supply a 12V but the wire running to your Tv may not be.

cheers for the info guys, i was playing with it last night, and the lines only appear when the PS2 is running, the TV runs of the cigarette lighter and i have a 12v to 240v adaptor to run my PS2 in my car, on this adaptor there is a extra earth which i can connect , do u think that would make any difference,
its something to do with the power for sure, im just not sure what it is :? i may try it in my friends ride tonight with the same setup and see if it works ok in his

ok i tried JUST the tv and it appears that when i have the TV plugged into the cigarette socket and the engine is off the picture is funny and when the car is started it runs fine, so i think its the wire from the tv to the cigarette lighter isnt working as its needed, so i may have to run it on 240v i think:S

Are you running a stock battery? How old is it?
Most likely it is your battery

nah the battery is fine amte, ive narrowed it down to the wire between the tv and the cig lighter so im guna mod it to fit straight to the battery

oh yea, I remember hearing about people having power noise problems with Play Station power converters. I thoink they had to reground them or make another one.
