1988 Mustang 5.0 Question

I recently picked up a 1988 mustang 5.0 5 speed. Only until recently it has been idling high around 2000-2100 rpm. It does this sometimes then i turn the car off and the rpm returns to around 1000. The first time it acted up I pulled the clutch in and the rpm went up to 2500 instead of going down.It will stick at 2000-2100 until i turn the car off. Im curious what the problem could be.

It could be your throttle cable or the return spring perhaps. You may also wanna take a look at you IAB sensor, although unlikely for a high idle.

Sounds like the 20 pin connector on the back of the intake manifold. There was a recall for this this problem, which will use a jumper wire assembly to cure the idle problem.

I found the problem it was the TPS Sensor. Thx for the input.

The TPS sensor is not the problem it started happening again, ill be driving and then when i come to a stop sign or red light ill pull the clutch in and it will rev up to between 2000 and 2500 this will happen without consistence ill shut the car off and it will drive without any problem I changed the TPS sensor, the IAC sensor, reset the EEC-IV,and ajusted everything including the timing belt. TPS. and idle stop screw. I dont know what it could be, I was told the EEC-IV might be screwed up and a new one might be the fix. What do you guys think.
