Hello all, been reading AF forums for a while now and I finally have something to post. So enjoy but be warned that this is going to be long.

Two weeks ago this Tuesday I rolled the alfa out of the garage for the basically the first time since I bought it in December. I had been doing a few upgrades and some restoration work with the help of my dad, and it was finally ready to be driven. I guess the news filtered through my family because this last Friday afternoon I got a call from a second (or maybe third...??) cousin Gino who invites me to come and cruise with him and his friends that night. I thought this was wierd since we dont like eachother, and we barely speak or see one another but I agreed to go because hes family and it was hard to say no.

So me and two friends pile into my car that night and we take off for the meeting place which was a 30 drive. My cousin has a '90-ish?? (know little of these cars) Supra which is kind of riced out with some (in my opinion low quality) body panels, a ridiculously big exhaust tip,and a crappy white paint job. His friends cars were the same sort of deal except for one who had a 91 talon which was pretty stock looking but had a very mean sound to it (I didnt ask what he had under the hood).

Right away my cousin was pressuring me to run against him, I refused though since the Alfa's not a drag car and Im not a straightline raceing type of guy. So after a couple of hours of hanging around, putting up with my idiot cousins badgering, I challenge him to a road race in the mountains that are less then an hour away. He refused saying that roadracing is gay, ect...

The whole event was very boring since no one was racing, or doing much of anything so I started to leave. Gino pulled aside and asked me if I would stay and support him at some streetraces later that night. I consented and soon was following my cousin and his friends to a supposedly "secret" race spot that was actually just an industrial street in Coquitlam that I had already known was a racing spot, and so did the cops.

My cousin raced twice against this 89 civic, and was badly beaten both times. He mouthed the civic guy off and got himself a third race and a $200 bet. Cop ghost drove out of a side street and drove after my cousin and the civic as they were coming back after their run (cousin lost again). Two more police cruisers blasted down another street towards the small crowd at the starting line.

Everyone went running for their cars, Im not sure If its illegal to watch streetracing here in BC but everyone ran so I thought I better take off too. the alfa was in a parking lot just to the left of the starting line but behind a line of hedges. Luckily most of the other cars were parked in another lot accross the street from mine, so I guess the cops went after the bigger and more visible group. I peeled out of the lot and took side streets until I was out of the area, then headed home. My cousin I found out today (Sunday), got his liscence suspended (I think he might have been caught before).

So, it was a pretty crappy night: idiot cousin, mostly crappy cars, almost got busted (that is if it is illegal to watch), and had to cancel other plans to go to the stupid event in the first place. The only upside was my cousin Gino got what he desrved (harsh I know but he was really an asshole that night so fuck family). Now that I think about it.. this story is boring as hell.. but oh well, and congradulations if you read this far without sleeping :disappoin

Welcome to the posting section of AF! Too bad about a shitty night out, but it's good that you got away without being busted.

BC as in British Columbia? I used to live in Alberta. With all the strict laws on minors drinking and the times they can drive and that, it's probably best that you didn't stay around and watch everything cuz it wouldn't surprise me if IS illegal to do so there.

What kind of Alfa Romeo??

Alberta actually has less strict drinking/racing laws then we do in BC (Yes British Columbia). People are very uptight about streetracing in Vancouver because of many race related deaths in the last couple years. And thanks guys for the welcome.

Welcome to the boards. Yes, as you know now that not all nights out to "the strip" are fun, because there isnt always a good race or even a race going down. Usually over here it's just for hanging out but if people get into arguments, it's settled in the streets
