gears

i've done a few mods to my 2000 3.8 camaro and i was wonderin, if i changed the gear in it, what gear should i run in it for best performance?

auto, stick?? maybe 3.73s or 3.42s... do the 4th gen v6s come stock with 3.42s??? i know most 3rd gens do

4th Gen V6 base models came STOCK w/ 3.08s and an open diff. If you are gonna swap out gears, swap out the diff for a LSD as well... only a Y87 camaro came stock with this stuff already, it came w/ a Z28 rear axle, disc brakes, LSD w/ 3.42s. If you have disc, you have it, if you have rear drums, you don't. Best bet is to go w/ 3.42s especially if you have an auto, 3.73s seem a little drastic to me for a V6. You might want to change the brakes back there while you are at it, try to find an axle off a V8 car at a junkyard.
