couple questions...

hi i used the epoxy putty quick type from tamiya to build my body kits and sorts on my model, and after it's dried, i sanded it and used basic type putty from tamiya to fill in the holes and rough surfaces. However, after the basic type putty dried up, i sanded it and tried to make it smooth, the holes and the the rough surfaces were barely disappearing.. I used the basic type putty to fill them up again and the same results happened...even though the rough surfaces and holes seemed to get less and less in numbers..but there are still couple that appeared after i sanded the second time, I am kind of frustrated and felt that i am doing something wrong..maybe the sand paper i used is too rough (i am using a 150 grit sand paper from testors)..or maybe i need to just keep putting on putty until all the holes disappears? Please help..

also another question that i have is that can i put c/f decals on a surface that have already been treated with rubbing compound? or should i put the c/f decals on first and then clear coat it with the rest of the body and then put on some rubbing compound and wax? thanks

For the pin hole problem since the putty is not chemicaly hardened, the moisture evaporate so it shrinks. Try putting a little more on. For the first pass of sanding use 150, then when you get closer to the surface use 320, then 600 and so on.

hi, thanks!! what about the c/f decals though?

basic putty is very mild, i usually first sand it with 400 grit sandpaper. Apply the decals first and then clearcoat evrything, the cf will look way better clearcoated. Just remember not to rub too hard on cf-ed areas !

hi, thanks, just another question...does the base color under the c/f area have to be gloss black? if i use other colors, would it be seen through the decal and make it not realistic? (I am trying to save the work and time of masking the decal area when i paint the rest of the body in another color)..thanks

hi, also can i wax the c/f decal along with the rest of the body? is that going to effect the decal? thanks
