k This is going to make me sound like a complete retard(which i am when it comes to car audio) but if i'm getting two 10' that have a 300 watt rms and 400 watt peak do i need a 300 watt amp, a 600,a 800?

600 Watt. Assuming your two 10' subs are 4 Ohm Single Voice Coil, you will need a 600W @ 2ohm amp. What kind of subs are they?

i am looking at either this one here (http://bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1069302878911&skuId=6252388&productCategoryId=cat03081&type=product) or this one here (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1069302293352&skuId=6252342&productCategoryId=cat03081&type=product)

So which is better the one with 4ohms or 8ohms since they are the same price. Oh and by the way i put down the wrong watts on my previous post.

One other thing: if it says that a sub needs .60 cubic feet and you are putting two subs in the same enclosure do you just double the needed space?

double needed space...
Don't feel like commenting on sub...

those rockfords aren't that bad, but the ed's haibane suggested are better, don't put two subs in the same enclosure, give each sub its own .60 cubic feet

Why is having two subs in one box bad?

you can make 2 enclosures out of the same box..., but what he is saying is put a divider between the subs, don't use same airspace

I always use the same enclosure ... just too lazy to build a baffle I suppose. but either way, you SHOULD mount the subs physically close together - it causes them to couple their output and increase the efficiency a little

they're recommended for small enclosures because smaller volumes of air is easier to compress, that helps with distortion and control issues as far as jumping the magnetic field and keeps the output tight. As far as two separate chambers it's better because if one speaker pop then the enclosure volume ddoubles for the other speaker, and now your risking overdriving your speakers

ok that clarifies it. Now... wat woul be a good amp under 150 for those (either the 4ohms or 8ohms) Brand loyalty means nothing to me just as long as it is the best for my money and it is not a no-name company

if you want a dirt cheap amp brand new for under 150 bucks to push that RF 4ohm you can find a power acoustic LT620/2 or get something used off of Ebay

nine.2 ...

Navy... those subs are not even good in those small of enclosures... Its like audiobahn... you need winisd or some prog to make a real box for it since they are probably way too small boxes

yeah you right, those specs read like they really a low/mid for bigger bass componet

NO .... smaller volumes of air are HARDER to compress, it's why smaller boxes require more power.

whoa did I say that wrong...
small sealed = spl
large sealed = sq
right..?

NAVY I.C., the size of the box does not effect whether it is spl or sq in the sealed application. It all depends on the sub and the application

I spent a lot of time experimenting with a lot of different setups just to establish my own rules of thumb. nothing too scientific, (I'm a tech not an engineer) but I still feel as good as all of my clients about my opinions.

Did you use different subs? Did you adjust the wattage accordingly?
