Hey everyone,

New here but I have been an owner of an 88 944 for a few years now and I have a few questions.

Firstly I went to wash my car today and when I got back I realised that my passenger side rear rubber bumper had fallen off. Admittidly it was a bit loose. I have been searching on many part sites and know one seems to have any. Any ideas???

Secondly recently I have noticed that when I turn my wheel when the car is moving slowly or not moving at all there seems to be a little bit of a crunch/bumping that comes from the front wheels. It only seems to happen when its hot outside. I have no idea what it could be.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Great forum.

Paul

Your bumper blocks are at vertex

Crunch/bumping, please describe further. Is that what you hear or what you feel?

Finally, welcome to the forum.

Thanks. I though I checked vetex but I guess not. Actually after I posted I drove back to the carwash to retrace my steps and actually found it on the road. LOL :smokin:

As for the crunching, its more feel than noise but it still does make a noise. Its very hard to describe over the net. It feels to be like it could be a joint or the steering box or something like that.
Though it only happens at VERY slow speeds and much more so when the weather/car is hot.

Thanks for the welcome mate.

Maybe try getting down on the ground and looking at the front wheels/spindles/A-arms etc and see if there is anything that might look out of place...maybe some rubber bushings have worn out and crumbled off.

Is there any vibration from the steering wheels/front end at speed?

you have to try to replicate the noise while the car is stopped. try pushing down on the front end, pushing from side to side, turning the wheel, etc. I had bad shocks that were sorta sticking so every time i hit a bump, they would make wierd noises.

I dont think its the shocks as they seem great over bumps. Always havel. I will try and replicate the noise anyway. Cus you never know.

I would say thqat there is maybe a bit of vibration at speed but nothing really out of the ordinary. Im going to have a good look later today. I may just end up taking it to the garage.

Thanks

Paul
