Have the same problem with my 99, but a different area...

My A/C works, but nothing comes out of the vents or floor ducts.. Only the Defrost on the windshield..

The same with the heat.. Only the defrost area blows air. No heat through the vents or floor ducts..

I dimantled the dash to see if something was blocking the vents, but nothing..

What is the problem????????

Pal, if its only blowin on the defrost, I reckon its the blend-air door problem, pull off the climate control faceplate and adjust your cables, i would reccomend buying chiltons or haynes for your car.

Where is that? I have no problem taking apart or putting them back together, but if you could direct me into the right direction, I would be grateful.

on my old car, what i did was set the directional control to defrost, pull off the faceplate, remove the cable and tighten it to its maximum (not too tight, but tight enough.) you can do this the same way with the temperature control if you feel you need to at a later time, exccept with the temp control it would be set to cold first.

this is of course assuming that its not a digital climate control.

once you pull off the faceplate, you should have direct access to the cables, on my old probe, we didn't need to pull the dash to get at it, but if yours is a ranger, i dont know..

if this doesn't help, i would strongly reccomend investing in a haynes or chiltons manual (about $15.) they both give you explanations, pictures, and directions for almost everything imaginable you'll ever do to your car.

check the the fan switch there are resistors on the back or inside the switch these resistors knock the power down depending on the speed desired when these resistors blow the blower will not work because the circuit is not complete but in high it is a direct wire setup hence the hi blower speed it is getting the full 12.6+ volts to the blower motor let me know if this helps [email protected]

most are activated by vacuum, make sure vacuum line from engine to controller is not broken or leaking, may hear hissing from line.

I would check the Blower Motor Resistor. When it goes bad you will only get the "High" setting and the rest of the speeds wont work. I had this happen on a Caravan and Cavalier that I owned.
