"Rare" JDM engine??

Does anyone know about a "rare" JDM engine?? I was told mine was a rare breed, is this a true statement?? What makesit "rare"?? Just curious. :smokin: :sunglasse

what engine is it?

if it is a third gen 3sgte then its not really that rare sinse it was in japan's mr2s from 1994 - 1999 and other toyota models

if it is a beams 3sge vvti then yes it is rare

The engine is not a third gen. or a Beams engine. It is a '92 3sgte motor I was informed from set individual, that it might be "rare" and I was wondering what distinguishes it as "rare?"

um, nothing... 92 3sgtes are pretty much the same thing as 91 3sgtes

Only Thing I Can Think Of Is If It Got The Ct20 Early Or Something??

I saw vvt-i on the 2002 camry and i test drive it non turbo runs pretty smooth and response quick! even on low octain gas so this is 3rd gen. 3sgte .

The BEAMS 3SGE is a very rare JDM engine.
It is a normally aspirated 200 HP engine that drops into the MR2. I've only seen one and know of very few others.

200 hp out of an NA engine has got to me nice in the MR2 :)

i've seen heaps cause altezzas are pretty common here.... looking at dropping one in my mr2 with a gt30r off the side... local wreckers have about 3 at the moment...cars got flooded.

the altezza engine is not the same as the mr2 engine...

altezza = black top - dual vvt-i 210hp
mr2 = red top - single vvt-i 200hp

the red top 3sge was only produced in the mr2 from 1998 - 1999 in other words very little made

YEAH ROUND 1000 IN THE MR2, AND SOME FOR THE RALLY COROLLA AND I THINK THE CELICA MAY HAVE GOTTEN SOME BUT NOTE THAT I NEVER SAID I'D GET THE MR2 ENGINE... THERES WRECKED ALTEZZAS HERE SO I'M LOOKING AT THE BLACK TOP DUAL BEAMS VVTL(ift)-i ENGINE FOR MY JDM TURBO SW20 MR2.

well u said u have seen heaps of beams engines when u were talking about a different engine... the mr2 beams engine is much more rare than the altezza engine because it produced for less than 2 years..

note that i never stated u were going to get the mr2 engine
