This is the Tamiya Boxster with GT3 body work. I didn't like the way that the GT3 had no body extensions around the rear section so I glued on a lower bumper from a Viper. I did a little sculpting to the Viper piece so it would blend with the GT3 styling.

I added a center fin in the side scoops so they will match the GT3 front grill openings. The Whale tail is from an old Porsche 911 kit and the headrests are from the Special Edition Boxster.

The lowered suspension from the GT3 will also be used as well as the seats. The wheels are 19" Aoshima TE 37.

Don't know the color choice yet.

It looks quite cool with the extra parts you added :), but I'm not too sure about the whale tail, though..It's your model, anyway :D
From the back, with that Viper bumper, it has a certain TVR Cerbera Speed12 hint to it :D

Keep us posted, I'll be following this thread with attention.

It's got a very nice "mini-Carrera GT" look to it. I honestly am not too sure about the Viper rear bumper. It juts out just a bit too much for my taste. If anything, I'd say cut it off, shave about an 1/8th of an inch off at the wheel well edge, then reattach it so that there isn't a huge ledge at the bottom of the car.

Otherwise, I flat out love the look. It's not only very attractive, but very factory looking too.

One awesome work! I love how everything goes together pecfectly! The only thing that's kind of weird to me is the Volk Racing set, it doesn't have the Porsche flair to it. It's just my opinion that's all. :icon16:

Cheers!

I agree with LK...
The bumper extension seen a bit long.
I like the wing. The side intakes could use something, though I'm not sure what.
very nice though.

Cool !!!
I prefer the wingless look too.

Veyron
07-05-2004, 05:21 PM
I think it will remain wingless though I like it either way, the wing doesn't enhance the car very much if any.

As far as the bumper, I've had the body work done for a long time so I'm used to it. To reduce the size of it or move it in would defeat the purpose of making a custom Boxster, it isn't suppose to look too 'normal'.

It will look fine once painted, trust me! :smokin:

Okay, I've decided to go wingless, and to add a high performance touch I will mold this modified Scooby scoop into the headrest piece.

The shape of the scoop matches the other shapes on the car quite well, just needs to be integrated so it looks more original. I also puttied that separation panel line in the center of the headrest piece.

Even though I don't usually like spoiler too much I think the whaletail would balance the rear end/deck lid now that the rear bumper is so eye catching. But thats just my :2cents:

The Scooby scoop is a great idea :smokin:

I'm looking forward to see this beauty finished.

as usual, Veyron, your work looks outstanding. I really like the wheels on the Boxster and overall the adjustments on the sides and the rest isnīt too much as well. So Iīm really looking forward in seeing one of your excellent paintjobs on that Porsche.

Go ahead and blow us away!

Hey Veyron, the scoope is very nice and very coherent with the body. Have you ever consider to put a LM style spoiler (ie: 911 LM, Benz CLK-GTR) on the rear? It may look cool.

Ah man !

This looks better then the stock porsches !

You should definately send a pic of it to porsche, so they could make an even better job.
Seriously, not only the execution is flawless, but the planning and the taste is just ACE !

Keep it up, B-San

Finally decided on color and got it on the Boxster, House of Kolor Bittersweet Pearl over white primer.

The body sits on a modified GT3 chassis, still have to paint the brakes etc.

Next order of business is to decide on interior color scheme and polish the body.

Wow, this is an awesome build! I loved this from the very first picture. Nice, nice job. Color is awesome too.

If I read your earlier post right, you put that 'middle piece' into the side vent behind the door handle. I'd like to know how you got it to look so perfect? I assume you just used some styrene and putty? How did you sand it smooth in that tight spot??

Murray

Thanks! I just shaped strip styrene with sand paper to fit in the side scoop. I didn't use any putty there, too hard to get to with sand paper etc.

The small fins will be painted black so as to hide them.

Gosh , 4 pages and I've still not replied. I nearly missed this project.

That's absolutely AWESOME. The bodykit integration suits the car very well. And that colour, hmmm ...., I like it. Everything looks great so far

Got the interior done, decided to keep it simple and business like. :icon16:

I put grid plate in the floor and behind the seats, painted it Silver Leaf then black and rubbed the raised part so the silver would come through. Kind of hokey but it adds some interest to an otherwise black and aluminum interior. Seats are from my parts box and the shifter is a straight pin with body colored knob.
