fuel pump issues

My 2000 gtp died on me the other day. turn over, but no start. replaced the fuel filter, and checked the fuel pump fuse under the hood. fuse blew. also added some injector cleaner to the tank. Curious though, what could have caused the fuse to blow? Is there something else I should check out as well? I've been hearing things about a resistor.

there is a resistor in the trunk i believe for the fuel pump check previous posts i know someone had the same complaint i have seen this resistor go bad plenty of times.

speak of the devil, my resistor just died about 500pm, luckily though i knew about this flaw and was able to jump a wire across the fuse under the hood, hope to get it fixed early in the morning.
