I'm using a stock 240sx clutch that is in decent condition; fine for casual driving but it's not going to do the trick if I want to drift. I'm planning to buy a nice clutch that is moderately priced, if anybody can educate me on things other than how they work, please do so. What clutch would you recommend I buy?
And most importantly, is there a site with a tutorial on how to replace clutches?
I appreciate any help.

A Stage1 or 2 ACT clutch will do just fine. You may even be able to get away with a new OEM clutch. Are you planning/already adding mods? How much drifting are you going to be doing?

i say go with a stage 3 with a 10 pound flywheel (any more lighter than that i'll be worthless)and a good short shifter and of course a good driver and u'll be ok. and that else do you want to know. i head that clutch masters are good. they might be otheres

I plan to be drifting 2-4 times a month but this car will also be the everyday, all purpose car too.
I'm looking into a price range of around $300 too. Do you recommend I go to a professional shop to do it, or is this a job an intermediate can do?

if you have to ask the question, should I do it myself or let a professional do it............let the professional do it lol.
Clutch can be difficult if you don't have the right tools. Now all my experiences with clutches are changing them at a transmission repair shop, so its easy as pie. Laying on your back in your driveway with hand tools and jack supports is going to be a shitty job thats no fun.

OEM will do fine on a stock 240, If you are planning on building the car up quite a bit, you might as well go with a nice aftermarket one that can take the power a little better.

In my opinion Daikin (Exedy/Cusco) is better than ACT but they give no love to the KA

I've replaced the clutch of my firebird atleast 3 times, it's not that hard, but you will need a friend or two. Pretty much an easy job, go get a chilton manual.

What's a fair labor charge for that type of work?

some shops will charge 500-600, I would only charge around 300, I think it is a fair price.

Cause those companies are super JDM, why would they give a flying crap about an american engine?
