Weird noise from front right wheel.

Recently I can hear some metal rubbing noise from my front right wheel after driving for a while. The noise sounds like something scretching when the wheel rolling. It can be heard while driving but stop when braking. Anyone know what it is?

sounds like you need new brakes. And if the screeching has been going on for a while, you need to have your rotors resheened, or replaced as well.

But if it is brake pad, should the noise be louder when braking?

No, because when the pad wears down really far, there is a clip that sticks out and rubs against the rotor. (even if you aren't hitting the pedal). If you have rims that let you see the rotor, take a look at it, and see if you can feel a groove worn into the rotor.

it's probably your cv boot. you may have a tear in it. nissan can repair it for like $80 but if you let it go for too long you'll need a new axle one day.

check behind that tire, is there grease? if so it's axle grease leaking from your cv boot.

its most likely the brakes, but you could be right BP2K2...when i had my grand prix, i had the same problem...when i was driving i could hear a lil screeching noise and sometimes when i backed up it was really, really loud, deffinately metal rubbing against metal somewhere...i took the wheel off n looked at the pads...they were like completely gone. when i got my max, it had a torn cv boot, but it had apparently been that way for almost a year, so i just needed a new axle...i couldn't hear any grinding noise or metal rubbing against metal because of it...

is it a clicking noise?

It is some kind of rubing sound. It sounds like "ts-ts-ts..." or "ki-ki-ki.."

i would guess it's the CV boot, cuz my prob is the same as urs. wen i'm driving it makes the tapping noises on the front rite side. wen i was getting an oil change, the mechanic sed th cv boot was messed up. so i'm guessing its the CV boot thats cracked.

ya it may be the constant velocity joint (CV joint) because mine made noises in that area also. i just got it fixed cuz the mechanic found that out when he was changing my fog lamps.
