I'm going to assume you're interested in the NEW trucks, as there's way to many number to go through if it's used.

'04 F250:

Are they all supercharged?

None of these trucks are supercharged. That would be aftermarket. The only thing close to a supercharger is the twin turbochargers on the 6.0L diesel.

Is the only bonus to deisel the price?

No. The diesel is more efficient as far as the amount of fuel it consumes, and it has more power then the 6.8L V10. Don't get the 5.4L V8 in these trucks, it's not suitable for ANYTHING.

What are the pros and cons of deisel?

The pros include more power, ie. tonnes of torque, it's a fast truck. The 6.0L diesel in an F350 crew cab short box single rear whell with the 3.73 limited slip rear axle is faster through the intersection than an '03 Mustang Mach 1 (a 5.4 second 0-60mph car). The 6.0L diesel is the most powerfull diesel Ford has ever used, and is matter to the best transmission in it's class. It's not the most powerfull now, but in '03 it was. It's also very quiet. Not to mention with the 6.0L you have a 7 year 160,000km warranty on the engine.

Cons are of course the smell of diesel. Diesels have much more trouble starting in very cold weather, and you HAVE to let the truck warm up before driving cold weather or not, where as the V10 will start easier and you don't have to let it warm up in the same way as the diesel.

How many mpg does it get?

This is hard to tell, as it's not actually rated. In my experience, i sold the exact same F350s to two different guys. EXACTLY the same. One guy was getting 12mpg on the highway with just him the truck and no load, the other guy was getting 22mpg under the same circumstances. Both were measure when cruising at 110km/h with the cruise on for highway driving. It varies, you never know what it'll be in something that big and how you drive i will be a factore aswell.

I know its not that fast but what is the top speed?

The speedometers in Canada only go to 140km/h (roughly 95 miles an hour. In something like that, you do NOT want to go fast. The trucks are built to pull something up to a reasonable speed, not to go fast in.

Whats the 0-60 times?

7/8 seconds would be a fair guess. They're not called the G-Force diesels for no good reason! When you step on it, it puts you back in your seat! I don't know when it comes to the 6.8L V10...10 seconds maybe?

How much torque?

6.0L Diesel: 325hp 565lb/ft torque

6.8L V10 Gas: 310hp 410lb/ft torque

Both these engines with automatic transmissions will pull the same amount. Both rated for 12,000lbs or so max when properly equipped.

Hope that's what you wanted to know, to find out more post back or go to www.ford.ca

Why is the V8, 6.0 better then the V10 6.8?

If you're looking at the '97 model, there was no 6.0L Diesel then, it was a 7.3. I don't think they had the V10 back then either....i think the V10 came out in '99. So if you want to buy a '97 model, buy the 7.3L diesel engine and don't even consider gasline.

The V8 6.0L is better because it's a diesel. The V10 6.8L is a gasoline engine. In big trucks like these, unless you are hell bent on a gasoline engine, buy the diesel always. They have more power then the gasoline engines, stand up better in the long run, and are more efficient iun their consumption.

You can absolutely go offroading in these trucks. Just make sure you do it smart. Get a supercab short box single rear wheel. Lift it, and do your tires, bumpers, winch, roll cage, new seats, safety harness, and everything else. You won't need to do much as far as performance tuning to the motor/tranny cuz it already comes with the power. You just amy want to have a truck shop re-adjust the tranny to handle the bigger tires and the condtions you'll be putting the truck through.

If you're not planning on SERIOUS offroading, then yes it'll be fine. Just make sure you buy a 4X4, and it has decent tires on it. And stay away from mud unless you've got the proper set-up.

Anything else i can answer for you?

BTW, the 6.0L DOES NOT have "dual turbos", it has ONE mounted in the top rear center of the block.

Also, the Lightning IS supercharged, and makes about 280 RWHP.

Sorry, it is just a single turbo. i dunno what i was thinking there, i know better!

The Lightning is supercharged, as well as some of the newer 1/2 tonne Harley Davidson trucks. But since we're talking about 3/4 tonne trucks i didn't say that since it's not what the questions were about.

That's my old car doing a burnout!

I told you it was turbocharged in my first reply! :grinno:
