this isnt aa question, i just had to tell people. Cartuning Performance made a turbo for 3800 powered cars. As it is it will bring 180hp to the wheels of a grand prix gt, and comming VERY soon, they are making an adaptor plate to make the Turbo Kit work perfectly on a supercharged L67 Grand Prix GTP. The stage one kit costs a lil under 3 grand, and i dont know about the adaptor plate. The Stage 1's turbo is good for up to 425 crank HP with additional supportive mods, and you can upgrade the Stage 1 turbo to a custom-built Precision Turbo unit, which is capable of producing up to 700 crank HP!!!!!!!! They are also working on a stage two, but it hasnt been on a dyno yet.

You put that kit on your car you'd better go ahead and pick up a new transmission while you're at it cause our transmissions couldn't handle that kind of HP for very long.

I'm not trying to piss on the fire.........I promise.

not to mention all this boost on a N/A 3.8 would not do the internals well

i talked to one of the ppl form cartuning performance (the place that made this turbo) and he said the following:

The setup certainly would work well. I'd expect in the 400 hp at the wheels
range with the IC, possibly more. When you get to the 400 at the wheels
range, you're outdoing the fuel pump capacity, and it's then time to change
the pump to something more heavy duty. The pump however won't be needed
without the IC. You can always do the turbo without the IC, and then
upgrade when it comes out. I can't speak for your transmission, or your
driving habits as to weather or not the trans will hold up. Turbo power
seems to come on a lot smoother then s/c power. With a lot less of the
shock stress on input/output shafts. Having said that, there are certainly
no guarantees where these transmissions are concerned, they do have their
week points. As far as pricing goes.... the kit is listed at $2999. There
are upgrade options for it right now that are listed on the resellers
website. You'd have to research what other parts would cost. The IC is
expected to be released within a month or so, and will be somewhere in the
$600 - $800 range.

i would think it would be the other way around...supercharger boost is linear and constant meaning you dont have to wait for the turbo to spool up as with a turbo when it gets up to speed the boost kicks in

i donno the exact reason why, what you said might actually work in favor of a turbo. a supercharged car has, like you said, more power immediately off from a stopped position, where as the input/output shafts in a turbocharged car would have a brief "warm up" period, while waiting for the turbo to spool up.on top of that, superchargers tend to put warmer air into an engine than a turbo, but im just guessin, i sent an e-mail to cartuning performance bout it, and they still havnt replied. ill tell u when they do
