Going Street!

I am considering making my 85 Mustang drag car a limited street car (even if not 100% street legal). I want it to run mid to high 10's. It will never be driven more than 50 miles at a time. The most it will be driven is once a week (in the summer) and probably usually no more than 28 miles. Major changes (especially in the engine) will be needed first and I am hoping some of you can help me. Any suggestions to help get on the street will be appreciated. I apologize for such a long post.
My current setup:
Stock bodied, all factory wiring stripped out, Interior consists of a dash, door panels, carpet, and seat.
Built up C4 transmission, with shift kit, no transbrake, and Coan 4500 stall speed convertor, cooler is a B&M Super cooler.
Ford 9" with 4.88 gears, and Mosier axles
Crane HI6 ignition
Griffon universal 2 core radiatory, and a B&M super cooler (with 8" fan) as an oil cooler.
Ladder bar suspension with 10.5 inch slicks
I have already got a pair of Hooker Aero chamber mufflers for it, and I am making a 3.5" exhaust.
The engine:
lower end:
factory 460 block
race prepped factory crank
TRW Dome pistons (12.9: compression with 72cc heads)
factory rods
Motorsport 6 quart oil pan ( but I get extra thanks to the oil cooler)
Melling hi-flow oil pump
Dynagear dbl. roller timing set
upper end:
Lunati special purpose cam with 265/272 duration at .050, 604/609 lift, 4000-7400 rpm powerband
Dove-C heads with 72cc combustion chambers, 226 intake, exhaust I am not sure about, heads have been machined for my cam, matched to SCJ gaskets, and mildly ported.
Victor JR. single plane hi-rise intake
Barry Grant drag race Silver Claw (same as a Mighty Demon carb)
MSD Billet Distributor
Hooker Super comp headers with 3.5" collector, and 2" primaries.

I think exhaust/emissions is most important.
not sure about the laws in the us, but you're not allowed to drive cars without cat here, except your car is older that 25 years.
edit: just a note to complete it - no, diesel engines don't need cats, but your's runs on gas eh? :D
I think you should get a proper cat and quiet exhaust + all needed headlights, taillights etc. of course.
Cops here don't care about interiors, not sure for the us too... don't think that's a problem
in germany, you have to make gov inspections every two years - and they don't open the engine and look for every part, so internal mods are no problem (some inspectors don't know what a BOV is, so you can run several things without papers)

Yeah it is illegal to run without pollution controls around here to but nobody inspects anything, I live out in the country. I plan to put convertors on though, but I am going to buy exhaust cut outs, when I race my exhaust will be running like open headers.
I have got a picture of the car in my gallery.

Get catalytic converters in place, that's the only start tip i can give you.

There is no need to worry about emissions if you're only gonna drive it as much as you stated. Let the DMV know that it will be a show and/or track/race car, and they'll register it under a special category in which you are smog exempt. Remember though, there is a certain number of miles you can't exceed when under this special registration, and they will do regular checkups on your mileage.
Good Luck.
