Door weld issue

My door is coming apart at the seam by the hinge where the front panel folds over the rear and is attached there somehow. It's been welded before and the paint patched from the heat, but the body shop says they want $500 to fix it. They would weld it and paint the whole door. Auto wreckers want $300 for the door and painting would be extra. Checked out one at the wreckers and it had the same problem. Might be best to weld the old one up solid and paint it rather than get a new one and have the same thing happen. Body shop says they fix about 4 of these a year. Anyone have experience with this?

I have a 94 Caravan and my drivers door welds broke. I have it held on by a rope right now - I feel your pain buddy!! Also...do you know of anyone having a fuel leak issue? My fuel line has a hole in it going from the tank to the motor - It needs to be fixed but I havent yet looked at it. I just picked it up from a friend and he told me of the problem. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Probably should replace it. Don't know how you'd patch it.

Ive seen small 110 volt MIG welders around discount tool shops for under 300 bucks. You could buy one yourself, fix your door and keep the welder for future use. MIG welding is not hard it alll.
