Has anyone towed a camping trailer with their Blazer. I'm looking at getting a 22 foot camper and I want to know if I can in anyway tow this trailer. Its about 4000 LBS dry weight. I have a 2003 4 door Blazer with auto trans.

If anyone has towed any size trailer with their Blazer I would like to know your expierence with it. Thanks.

I don't think it will handle it

4000 empty/dry is gonna be over 5500 by the time u fill the freshwater tank, the propane tank(s) and add batteries and all the crap in the coach compartments. heck a decent stocking of food will go a couple hundred.

I pull (sometimes) my boat with my 91 (4800-5000 depending on how much of the 50 gallon tank is full)

I only have the wimply 160hp motor and the 3.42 axle, but it does a surprising good job from the parking area to the launch ramp and an occasional trip to the gas station - never more than 5 miles. Given that I tow large things regularly with larger trucks, I know that the blazer will be burned up with that load if I used it on the highway.

but here are a few problems:

an rv runs 15%+ tongue weight....600lbs+ will kill a blazer - hell it will kill all suvs except the 2500sub. therefore you will use a WD hitch. this hitch will neutralize the trailer, and since it has way more side surface area than your blazer, and weighs more, gusts of wind will cause firey crashes.

next, there is no way a blazer can LEGALLY tow an rv, mine cannot legally tow my boat. your mirrors have to see appx 150ft centerpoint behind the trailer. you would have to use nearly a 2ft mirror extension on BOTH sides, and quite frankly, they dont exist and I doubt you are gonna weld anything.

Thanks For all the Info. Do you think a Chevy Suburban 1500 with the 5.3 V8 will be able to tow the Trailer.

What about the Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab. These are the two vehicles that I have narrowed it down to. I figure if the Suburban can tow it the Silverado should be able to.

Should

They should both be rated to 10,000lbs towing.

The Silverado is the vehicle that I decided to get. The only thing I can't decide on is what gear ratio I want. The 3.73 ratio can tow 7500 lbs, and the 4.10 ratio can tow 8500 lbs. What do you think would be best.

gas mileage on both will be in the dumper, but if you are gonna tow, the 10% torque advantage of the 4.10 will be appreciated...
