My new Colorado with the I5 eng has broken the Cat off the pipe twice the first time the dealer had it welded back on, lasted about 300 miles and broke again :screwy: This time they replaced it with a new design from Chev has this happned to any one else ? or is it just this truck If it is a lemon at least it's yellow :grinno:

The pipe must not be being allowed to move enough. If the system is too tight, meaning the hangers don't give the pipe any allowance to move with the frame of the truck as it twists down the road, the pipe has to give up somewhere, and probably at one of the connecting points. It will find the path of least resistance, and break there...

Looking at my new Cat it is much smaller and the header to cat is now a z shape the original one was just past the header connection and big. If you have the original one you might check for the weld braking loose over time/miles. If it happnes to many of these they may recall the original ones as mine is now the new desigin I'm set :naughty:
