Hey Been looking around searching web sites, looking through other forums, and ever looking though junk yard for Some sort of way to lower a 1984 Toyota Celica GT-S. Don't really need to be lowered cause the car is a beater. 169,000 Miles, Cracked Block, Blown head gasket, and a burnt fuel injector. All and all it still hauls ass. so if any one has some idea of how to lower it about 2 inchs let me know

Any one know any thing about heating the springs with a torch to lower it. Don't know just seen it down but kills the car in the long run.

Thas all let me know if you know any thing.

You dont just heat the springs you chop them down. Cutting the springs with a torch isnt a great idea though because the heat screws up the springs. Your best bet is to use a cutoff wheel or something like would generate less heat than a torch.

If you chop the springs make sure you do each on the same amount of the car will look like crap.

Yeah i know what you mean. thats all i need one side 3 inches higher than the other. I also heard something about about the springs on a old RSX. donno i guess there fit but are smaller

If ya know any thing about what i am talking about get back.

Oh yeah on my bros car they just took a oxy/act. torch and gut a small piece off and than they heated it again and bent it back around. (very confusing but something like that) his was a VW Rabbit though and his back is hight than the front

you can just spend the 200 bucks and get some eibach springs...if you chop your spring you'll be hurting your handling..if that matters to you

When you heat metal the particles inside it arrange in different formations. By cooling is quickly, like in water, or slowly, you again change the formation which the particles take on that give the metals different characteristics.

Basically the way springs are made, im not sure exactly what process, but when you heat them up with a torch you change the rate at which they compress and I believe they weaken and become slightly brittle.

Might keep it the way it is. sound kinda hard. I gotta fix the rear quater panels first. missing like 4 or 5 inches from spining tires. yeah one thing the car is good at.

ok, DO NOT HEAT THE SPRINGS UP OR CUT THEM!!! BIG NO NO!!!!. Contact Eibach springs and buy all four new ones and you will get a 2" drop like you want. improves handeling and it will save you a big headache in the long run!!!
