SR20DET questions

I am going to swap either a s13 or a s14 motor and trans in to my 1969 Datsun Roadster. What sort of power could be attained with these motors, and still be drivable on the street with pump gas. I am looking to get 300 hp and ~240lbs tq. I am sure that is possible, but how reliable do you think it would be? I once had an eclipse that I ran on 19 pounds of boost. I ran it hard, all the time. 87000 miles, and no propblems at all, until some uninsured bitch ran a red light and T'boned me at 45mph. Totaled it. After that I bought a WRX and tuned that up till it was running 17psi all day, then it was totaled by a different uninusred asshole running a red light. Chevy 2500 in the drivers side door at 20mph sucks. All this in a state where it is illegal to have no insurance. Cant sue either of them, cause they have no money to take. That is why I have a Hyundai Accent as my daily driver now. Sick of buying nice cars and having some idiot take it away from me, and not even pay for it.

it will be reailble a couple of boltons and opening up your exhaust and intake, adding more fuel, and raising boost pressure and you can get 300whp from it you might want to look into a bigger turbo tho.. the t-25 is good for about 270whp..
good luck

Chevy 2500 i have one of those... :uhoh: :uhoh:

300Whp is easy for any SR... but since your goals are fairly low id say go for an S14 SR20 just for the lower miles and bigger T28 turbo (im not sure the T25 Can Hold 300Whp)

you're probably looking for a setup like this... http://pigseye.kennesaw.edu/~adb5499/1991%20Nissan%20240sx.htm

very reliable. all you need is about $2500 on top of the motor.

Awesome... I am very excited about this project. How much boost can the stock internals take? Not that I need more than 300 hp. My Datsun only weighs about 1900 lbs, and it handles like a go kart. It used to have 168 hp, but now it is fried. I kicked many a hondas ass in it before it was retired. I will rebuild my U20 with the solexes, and put it in to a different Roadster. I want this one to be a screamer. Hardly anything stock left on it as it is. A mint condition SRL311 will fetch $20,000. One day people will realize how cool they are and they will sell for much more.

1900 pounds with 300hp, holy CRAP that would rock. you would kick just about anything to the curb and into the next building, dang.

stock internals can take about 20psi. stock t25 can take 12psi safely, and maxes out at about 14psi (shortens life of turbo though). You'll need at least a big t28 to get 300whp, along with a good front mount capable of flowing at least 18-20psi (greddy rspl or blitz). injectors max out at about 13psi so you'll need some 550cc's, along with a z32 maf and reprogrammed ecu. really a couple grand and you'll be at 300whp.

^ Yes, if you drop the SR onto the Prelude, then it will be beat. But in a race, think about your question logically for a minute then come back to me.

I would recommend an S13 SR because there is less wiring and computer garbage to deal with. Just find yourself a T28 from an S14 or S15 motor and away you go.

hahahaha, can a sr20det beat a prelude?!!! ha, that was a very entertaining question since the SR needs a CAR!!! since it's just an engine.

i was wondering if anyone could give me a quck estimation here.

i will be getting sr20det s13 with blitz front mount 3inch exhaust and i am thinking i will get a s14 or s15 turbo.

i know there are some other factors in guessing horsepower and torque. but does anyone have a similar set up because i am trying to make an estimation on how much power i will have a 7psi and 14psi. thanks
