1995 Blazer computer codes...

I've got a 1995 blazer 4.3l.. my ses light is on.. and I want to know what the computer thinks.. (it's running rough and bucking while in gear and stopped at stoplights.) and fuel consumption is way up.. (usually get 300 m/tank last fill up this past time only got 200 m/tank)
so.. I stopped by Autozone other night to get codes read.. unfortunately I timed it just right for a mini monsoon to pour on me and the autozone employee didn't see the need to get drenched for my codes... And.. he said that they can only read codes for OBD II capable vehicles which are 96 and up..
Does that mean I've got to do the shorting 2 pins trick to get the check engine light to flash at me? Anyone have experience with the 95 blazer and how to get the comp codes?
Thanks,
Tim

Have the fuel injector checked. Its a common problem on these vehicles 4.3l vortec engines.

Well.. took the EGR valve off today while replaceing my thermostat (seperate issue)
it was definitely sticking.. cleaned it up and put it back on.. so (for now) 3 of the codes are gone.. the O2 sensor.. the EGR flow restricted.. and the Aux Emissions one.. however I've still got:
p0172 - Too Rich, bank 1,
p0300 - Random Misfires..
Gonna try some seafoam I just got.. to see if that cleans up some.

95's have ODBII as well as ODBI.5... If your ECM is under the hood, you have ODBII, if it's under the dash it's ODBI.5...ODBII has side post mount distributor, ODBI.5 has top post... You have ODBII...
That said, Your injector is leaking... Pull your upper plenum and look for signs of washing (where one side is cleaner than the other) If the passenger side is washed, you have a bad CPI, if the drivers side is washed, you have a leaking nut kit... If you do replace your nut kit, replace your nut kit as a matter of course...
Sicne you've been running so rich, you should also replace your plugs/wires/cap/rotor...
Your 02 sensors should be replaced every 65-75k...This is critical for running properly (not rich) and proper fuel miledge...

It breaks down and cleans out carbon... Available at NAPA or Advance autoparts

Just pour it in the gas tank?
rlith

No, with the car running, pour 1/3rd in the brake booster line to flow into the intake... shut the car off for one hour, 1/3rd into the crank case oil (do oil change after 500 miles) and the remaining 3rd in the gas tank... After the hour is up, drive normally (no revving the engine) for about 5 miles... You will smoke a lot, but that's fine...

rlith,
Just wanted to say thanks for the online diagnosis of the fuel injector problems. you were spot on. (see this thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=255502) )
Just had two more question.. about the O2 sensor(s). I know of the one under the car right behind where the 2 exhaust pipes meet... is there another one? and if so where?
Thanks,
Tim
