weird starting problem

i have a very weird problem it seems that every morning i go to start my car and it won't start then if i let it sit for 15 min it starts and works fine all day just every first time that day like the starter makes kinda of a wierd noise mabye its b/c its new and needs to be broken in?

sounds like a defective starter, it shouldn't make any weird noise.

vats is the ignition interlock security feature. If your car has it there should be a little black pellet in the key and the car wont start without it.

But vats only started in 1989 and you have an 87 right?

yeah and i got the old skool keys the little circle one fopr the dpoor and the square one for the ignition

It is possibly something simple. Get a battery terminal cleaner and clean up your battery terminals and the terminal clamps, also check the wires that connect to the starter maybe they are not tight enough.

also, if the sound is a clicking sounds it is the dirty cables or loose wires. If the sound is like a minature kawasaki engine reving up, then your flex plate or flywheel is has some ground up teeth or the starter is defective and dosen't engage all the way. I've got to get off the comp now and go to the lake. Have a great 4th everyone.

well what i did this morning seemed to work i turn the key all the way so there was power (but not so it turns the engine on) then i pumped the gass 3 times like 1/2 way then turned on the car and it worked fine i was thinking mabye if i tried priming it like a lawnmower it will work and it did woot

Clean check BOTH ends off the Ground(black hopefully) cable - You guys make thing TOO complicated..:rofl::grinno::rofl:

yea i usually pump the gas in the winter before i start it and it usually works! but watch isnt if u over do it u can flood it!
